After six long months, the long-awaited exam results were finally out. Tee and Ashura, who had been waiting anxiously, were so overwhelmed with joy when they both came out in flying colors. They couldn’t contain their joy, their hearts swelling with pride and satisfaction. They had done it.
Tee, already in Nairobi, had moved in with her aunt while waiting for her results and has been enjoying life in Nairobi. She had secured admission to study for a Bachelor’s in Nursing at a prestigious Royal University. For her, it was the first step toward fulfilling her dream of becoming a compassionate healthcare personnel. Though excited about her new phase, she knew she’d miss the everyday companionship she had shared with Ashura while in high school.
Ashura, on the other hand, in Mombasa, has been applying quietly towards the same goal of making it to university. As fate would have it, he also gained admission to the same university as Tee, but to pursue a Bachelor’s in Pharmacy. It was a testament to their bond, though a different route but the same destination. The thought of meeting his old friend again gave Ashura a sense of hope that eased the sadness of their separation.
Before leaving for Nairobi, Ashura called Tee, her voice filled with so much joy. “Guess what! I got in!”
Tee’s joy was immeasurable, her laughter bubbling through the phone. “You’re coming to Nairobi! We’ll be studying at the same university!”
“Yes!” Ashura said, his heart light. “I told you nothing could keep us apart for so long.”
The two friends made plans, already planning about late-night study sessions, shared meals, and the adventures that awaited them in the lively city.
“I’ll meet you soon,” Ashura gave Tee his words “We’ll pick up right where we left off.”
The following week, Ashura boarded a bus to Nairobi with his belongings neatly packed, her heart filled with a mix of excitement and anxiousness. Tee was already waiting earnestly, counting down the days until her friend’s arrival.
Though they had spent months apart, it felt as if no time had passed at all when they finally met on campus. As they hugged so tightly, they knew that even though life had temporarily taken them on different route, their friendship was still as strong as ever.
Now, with dreams ahead and each other by their side, they were ready to face whatever obstacles university life would throw at them.
Because no matter where life took them, Tee and Ashura knew they would always find their way back to each other's heart.
