Scarlet's P.O.V Normally people don't run into bars at one in the morning. Normally people aren't left to lock up a bar when they aren't even the owner. Normally people aren't given a personal offer by a stranger they just met. Normally people don't follow men out of bars that have told you nothing about themselves. Normally people wouldn't be okay about all of these situations, they would be scared or worried if they were put into them. All of the following things had happened to me tonight. And I wasn't scared. There was something about this Lucian Cullon that enticed me, he was a mystery too me and I was intrigued. His green eyes just drew me in, I was locked in a trance, possessed by those piercing orbs of bright green. So as I followed his out of that bar, out into the midnight black, I was still wary, I would be stupid not to be, I knew that he would do me no harm. Stupid, just to assume I realise that, but Lucian Cullon had already become part of my new life, he was the first chapter. It was was still raining, just not as heavily. The street lights were flickering on and off as we walked down one of the back allies. I was starting to realise how much like a stereotypical murder case this was becoming. We walked through the backstreets of New York, I walked beside him, keeping my eyes locked on the road ahead. Every now and again I could feel his glance burn down on me, I tried not to notice, but his glare was so powerful. "Here we are" said Lucian stopping suddenly so I almost crashed into the back of him. I stumbled backwards falling over the pavement and almost landing on my back side. Almost. "Clumsy are we English?" Lucian said pulling me back up so I was facing him. I just shook my head and brushed off my clothes "Here we are?" I said confused "Yep" he said popping the p "Lucian, where exactly is here?" I said looking around the deserted street "Ah my sweet English" he said making me cringe "We are waiting for my Car to come" he said "oh your car just magically comes to you when you call it then?" I said in a mocking tone "No, my driver will drive the car here as I told him to meet me here at 2.00am" he said I did a double-take "your driver, how?" I said "Just wait English, I will answer your questions later" He said slight anger in his voice. I backed of for a minute but soon curiosity got the better of me. "Is that normal, doesn't he ask why your requesting him to meet you in a back ally at 2.00am?"I said "We have a mutual client driver relationship" he said in a tone that clearly told me to stop talking. I didn't think it was possible, but Lucian Cullon became even more mysterious at that moment. It suddenly hit me how much I didn't know about him. I didn't know his age or where he lived, also where he came from or even if he had any pets. All I knew was his name. Just then a huge black car pulled up beside us slightly startling me. It stopped and a dark skinned man with a black suit on stepped out the front seat. "Mr Cullon" he said "Sebastian" said Lucian nodding his head slightly and looking at his watch "1.59" said Lucian "Ah yes, you said 2.00 so I thought just to be on the safe side I would pitch up a little early" said Sebastian. "Well you've done it again" said Lucian shaking Sebastian's hand. Lucian gestured for me to step forward which I did slightly nervously. "This is Scarlet Hyde, she will accompany us back to the house and will be staying for approximately a week" said Lucian. Trying his best not to show his bewilderment Sebastian shook my hand and opened the back door so that we could get in. Lucian stood behind the door as I climbed in first and then shortly followed after me. It was a big estate car, so it was roomy, much more than I expected, but not as large as a stretch limo. As the car started to drive away I quickly buckled my seat belt. "Sebastian, can you please put the screen up" said Lucian "As you wish Mr Cullon" said Sebastian putting up the black screen that separated the driver from the back seats. Lucian waited till it was fully closed before turning to face me. "What I'm about to ask you, is odd, but bear with me because you will be paid and I need your help" he said "Mr Cullon, trust me, I have nowhere to go, I need this as much as you do, it's fine, I'll do whatever you need me to do." I said "Well first of all you won't call me Mr Cullon, you shall call me Lucian" he growled. "Why?" I said raising my eye brows to the heavens. "Because English, it would be slightly odd for my fiancée to call me Mr Cullon" he said. "Wait sorry, Fiancee?" I said thinking I had heard him wrong. "Yes, as odd as it sounds I'm asking the girl I met in a bar at 1.00am in the backstreets of New York to be my fake Fiancée" he said. "But, how, wait what?" I said still confused. "I'm trying to buy a business, the business I'm trying to buy wants a woman involved, I said I was engaged so they agreed to meet me several times during this week, but only if they met the Fiancée in question" he said in a bored sort of tone. "So you lied to them saying that you had a fiancée" I said. "No, at the time I arranged the meeting I wasn't lying" he said. "Oh" I blinked. We sat there in the familiar dead silence for a minute before I spoke again. "So, how long exactly do I need to do this, be your fake fiancee for?" I said almost in a whisper. "Well" Lucian said frowning "about a week maybe a little bit more, i'll explain fully when we get there". There, were exactly was there, I had no idea. "Pay, how much will I be paid" I said "500" he said "Okay, that sounds good" I said "Yeah, do you want me to pay you 500 by the day or all at the end" he said "wait" I stuttered "500 per day!" "Yeah" he growled "holy s**t!" I almost screamed I looked over at him and squealed again. Lucian just stayed silent I sighed and looked out the window "Okay, right so, what's your favourite color?" I mumbled. "What?" he looked at me puzzled. "You know, if we are engaged I've got to know some background information, your favourite colour, your mother's name, just give me like a basic ten facts" I rambled. "Okay, ten facts" Lucian said looking at me again. "Right, I've lived in New York practically all my life but I was born in Kissimmee in Florida" he said. "Okay, that's cool" I said. He nodded and spoke again "ummm, my favourite colour is blue, I have a Dog called Autumn and I live in an apartment on the 9th floor" he said. "Oh, the 9th, you got a nice view" I said. "Of sorts" he said not really letting out any more information. He was very good at it, blocking people out with short, harsh answers. "Any thing else?" I said. "Oh um, my birthday is on the 5th of December and at the moment I am 27" he said. I wasn't expecting him to be that young, I was only 24 myself but he didn't necessarily look older, he just looked more experienced, wiser in a sense. "Enough about me English, what do I need to know about my fiancee Scarlet Hyde?" he said. "Well I was born and raised in London, i'm 24 and my favourite colour is yellow" I said. "Did you dye your hair?" he said abruptly looking at my bright red hair. "Oh" I said slightly taken a back "No, I occasionally get the roots done but its not a permanent colour if thats what you mean" I said. "m'kay, go on" Lucian said. "Oh, well there is nothing much more to say" I said. "Oh common English, you're saying that all you got is 24 and yellow?" he said. I shrugged my shoulders and nodded as the car stopped. "ladies first" said Lucian as Sebastian opened the car door. I climbed out onto the dark pavement realising that it was no longer raining. "Welcome to my home" said Lucian I looked up at a tall apartment building. It was dark so I couldn't quite tell the colour, although it look like a light blue and grey sort of theme. It was very modern, with huge glass windows and neon geometric shapes on the sides of the main entrance. "Common then English, in we go" said Lucian walking forward through the door. I walked beside him into the brightly lit reception, it too was very modern with black leather and bright yellow couches and glass coffee tables with magazines like cosmopolitan and LIFE spread out over them. "Up we go" said Lucian walking over to the lift. "is there stairs?" I asked not moving. "Umm, yeah but the lift is much quicker, i'm on 9th floor" he said "yes but I need to take the stairs" I said "you need to take the stairs?" said Lucian frowning slightly "Yeah, no elevators" I said "No way" he said "what?" I asked as we walked over to the staircase. "English is afraid of elevators" he smirked "Well, not really, you know, they go up high and them boom, you fall 9 floors and die!" I rambled on going pink Elevators were my weird fear, I mean common we all have one. Some people are scared of paper clips,Jelly, the blue man group and even Johnny Depp, everybody has a weird fear. "Thats so funny" said Lucian as we started to walk up the stairs. "Not really, I mean they are kinda scary" I said. "have you even been in one before?" said Lucian. "Ummm, well I stepped in one this one time but i've never gone up or down in one" I mumbled "Oh English, so my fake fiancee has never traveled in an elevator before" he grinned. It was the first time I had seen him smile, it was slightly odd, his dark features were so prominent yet the smile that was stretched across his lips was quite warming, relaxing almost, he was real, he could smile. "How can this only be floor 5!" I said as we continued to climb the endless staircase. "Getting tired English, what to take the elevator now?" he said. I scowled at him and began to run up the stairs. "Oi, wait for me English" shouted Lucian racing after me. I raced up the stairs taking gigantic steps and going two stairs at a time, until there were no more stairs. "Hey, English, you can't just race off like that!" said Lucian as he stopped beside me. I didn't reply, I just stood there. a sign above my head my read "9th floor, Penthouse suite" "You live in the Penthouse!" I exclaimed. "Nope" he said. "wait what?" I asked. "I don't live here most of the time, this is just like a rental, I really live in California" he said. "Oh.kay." I said still stunned. He looked down at me, his green eyes burning into mine. "English" he whispered in a dark tone. I nodded. "Go inside" he said. "really, I get to stay in here too?" I said. "No, i'm just gonna let my 'fiancee' sleep on the streets for a week" he said. Slowly I put the key into the lock "Hurry up English, stop with the dramatics and open the flipping door" Lucian growled. "Fine" I huffed, but still I slowly opened the door only giving myself a peep at a time until it was fully open. "HOLY MOTHERFLIPPING WOW!"
