The Vampire’s Forbidden Mate.

Chapter 2

LUCIEN’S POV

After my scheduled classes for the day, I went back to my own world. Now it’s not just the human experience and adventure that draws me to the human world but also a beautiful brunette lady who I can feel in my bones is my mate.

Troy is not just my friend but also a distant cousin so he lives with us but his parents are from different packs entirely. His mother is from our pack and her mate is the vampire lord of another pack.

As soon as I got back to the other side I felt an instant wave of energy rush through my veins. Being a daywalker is fun but I can get very drained by being in contact with the sun for too long.

I got to the castle and my father wasn't home, I guess my mother should be in the music room.

“Mother?” I said while I opened the door leading to the musical room. “Lucien where have you been all day?”

“Nowhere mother, I just decided to stroll a little” I said in response

“Stroll? I hope that strolling led you to your other half. The royal home is at stake.”

“Mother, what does me still being in search of my mate have to do with the throne?”

“There are rumors that your mate is gone and Sanguira the keeper of bonds hasn't granted you yet another mate”

I was so pissed that my mother listened to and believed in gossip. I can't tell my mother I’ve found my mate. Not when she's human. Even though there's a chance to convert her into one of us, it's 50/50, it's either she dies or it works and I just can't do it. I wouldn't be able to live with the thought of killing my mate.

“If you can't find a mate, your father and I have to take other measures to resolve it.” my mother said drawing me out of my thoughts back into reality. I just left the room not wanting to know what she meant by that.

I felt so restless, I couldn't sleep. Night came but I couldn't sleep. The girl with the brunette hair texture and blue eyes was all I could think of. Ohh keeper of bonds why does my mate have to be human? I did not even ask for her name or where she stays. I need to know everything about her.

Elara’s POV

I'm so tired right now. Not much was done in school but at least I’m back home. The house seems pretty quiet. “Mom!! David!!!? Where are you guys?!”

I got no response so I went into the kitchen for a glass of water, then I saw a sticky note attached to the fridge.

“ hi hun, we went on an impromptu visit to grandma's. I tried reaching out to you but I guess you were busy in school today. I know for a fact you wouldn't have followed us even if you were at home. There is food in the freezer and we won’t be back till on Monday so the house is yours all weekend. Love mum”

Honestly she's very correct. I would never voluntarily meet with my grandmother, she made my life a living hell all because she was against me being adopted into the family and me being the first child legally. So she despised me with passion.

Now that I’m home alone what should I do?

I think I'd have a movie night. I went up to shower and I rested for a while before I went back down with my tablet to watch a movie. I turned on the TV contemplating which movie to watch i decided to go with a Christmas-themed movie. I was already halfway through the movie before I thought of having something to munch on, and I felt really tired but I stood up regardless to help myself out. I recalled there being a bag of popcorn in the fridge and as soon as I stretched out to open it up, the fridge opened without me touching it. That's strange or did I not close it properly earlier on?

But I shrugged it off and went right back into the living room to continue my movie. I had this feeling that someone was staring and watching my every move, but I saw no one. I had no idea when or how I dozed off on the couch.

Not long after I woke up, I checked the wall clock above the TV and it was half past midnight, got up to turn off the TV and the lights, and double checked if the door was locked. I went up into my room to continue sleeping comfortably in bed, then I noticed my window was still wide open because of how breezy the room was, I rushed towards the window to close it cause I didn't like the excessive cool breeze, then I saw a fast black shadow running. I can't explain what creature that was but I know for sure it scared me. It all happened so fast that all I saw was its red eyes and the creature which looked like a human run so fast and disappeared into the night.

I couldn't sleep, and I became restless. I tried shaking my mind off by telling myself I was just seeing things. I wish I had just stayed in my dorm tonight. I decided to block my ears with music to put me to sleep but I just couldn't. I tried working late but I still could not sleep, proofreading people's articles even kept me wide awake, so I went back down to drink warm milk and it helped me feel sleepy a bit but a part of me could not shake off what I had seen. I was drawn towards this being, I wanted to know this being, I wanted to know what it was. I want to know why I’m being watched. These thoughts lingered at the back of my mind but I still needed to sleep so I could function properly later during the day.
