Vito's face turned cold in an instant. "Sabrina, stop pretending. It's not nearly that serious. I brushed all the loose fur off Ample beforehand. I even checked online—this can't set off your allergies."
He let out a cold snort. "Tiffany was right after all. You're putting on this whole act just to make me feel guilty. You want to manipulate me into treating you better, don't you? Get up right now."
Another person walked out of the house. "Vito, don't speak to Sabrina so sharply. I shouldn't have come over."
Tiffany looked hurt. "If I'm getting on your nerves, or if you dislike Ample and me, we'll leave at once. But please don't take your frustration out on the dog."
"Leave? No way!" Vito growled angrily. "Do I have to give in to every little thing she wants? She's just being unreasonably jealous. If I keep indulging her, she'll only grow more unreasonable."
He fixed me with a cold stare. "We're days away from the wedding. Can't you get your temper under control?"
My throat tightened up, and I struggled to draw breath.
He crouched down beside me, a nasty look on his face. "Sabrina, who are you trying to fool? Get on your feet, now."
I gasped heavily.
Then I summoned all my strength and slapped him hard across the face. "Vito, there's no more waiting. We're breaking up—right here, right now."
Vito went stiff with shock. He covered his red, stinging cheek, and pure panic flickered across his eyes.
