Cassian was sitting in the living room with Genevieva when the home phone rang Matthew picked it up and held it to his ears for a few seconds before calling Cassian's attention. “It's the Police officer, he wants to speak with you." Cassian took the phone, wondering why the police officer was calling while the entire family was scared that the police found out they were lying about Freya. “Hello?." Cassian said into the phone and the deputy officer spoke up. “Mr Cassian, there is unfortunate news. Check the news station right now." Genevieva lifted a brow of enquiry as Cassian stood up from the love seat to grab the remote. He turned on the TV, a picture of Freya came up and the headlines said she was dead. A tremor went through Cassian and his heart seemed to stop beating for a few seconds. “Wh-what happened?..." His voice was a little over a whisper. “Last night, a Mysterious man showed up to the prison cell where we kept Freya and he took her out. While men were chasing them, they had an accident that caused them to drive off the bride and into the river. Their bodies are yet to be recovered." “No..." Cassian whispered Genevieva snatched the phone from Cassian's sweaty fingers. “Is it possible that she survived the fall?." She asked the officer, her eyes wide with excitement. “No ma'am, it's impossible." Genevieva's eyes grew wider, there was a wicked gleam to it. “Good." She whispered low enough for no one but Cassian to hear it. He shot her a look but she was too happy to care. *** FREYA I was nervous as hell, Hunter was either overconfident or mad because he was driving us back to the police station. The car glided over the road like oil on a silk surface, it was so smooth I felt like we were flying and it was like a fuel to my nervousness. “Are you scared?" “No." I lied He chuckled and I turned to him. “What's funny?." “You're gripping your knees and your knuckles are white. I thought I told you I could handle this?." I looked down at my knees and I released them, my knuckles were indeed white. “It's not a nervous tic." “I've watched you do that a couple of times so I know it's a nervous tic." “When... How long have you been watching me?." I remember the first day we met and he told me he's been watching me, has it been days or weeks or months? He shot a glance in my direction and gave a close lipped smile, it was small but it seemed to be the only thing my brain could see at the moment, the way his cherry lips were curved and juicy.... I turned away and placed my attention on the window. What's wrong with me? “I've been watching you for a while." I was about to say something but the car stopped and the thundering in my heart became louder. “Trust me Freya." “You're the same person that drove us over a bride the first night we met." He laughed, it was a low rumble that hit every vertebrae as it went down my spine. “I know but we're fine, aren't we?." Without waiting for an answer, he opened the car door and came around to hold open the door for me. “Thank you." He nodded once and that look on his face returned, it was the same look he had when he walked into the cell and knocked down the two police officers as if it was a simple task. He placed his hand at the small of my back and led me to an office. He opened the door and walked in as if he owned the place. “Freya, have a seat." “Uh, Mr Winthrop? Wh-what a pleasant sur—" The man's words fell when his gaze landed on me. I was so scared to take a seat when the deputy didn't ask me to but since Hunter asked me boldly, I didn't know if I had another chance. “What is going on here?." The deputy officer asked, a tone of caution entered into his voice. “I was thinking of suing this station but I thought it would be more reasonable to settle something so delicate out of court, take a seat officer." My mouth fell open at Hunter's words, as he was ordering the man to take a seat in his own office?. I closed my mouth and decided to pretend as if I didn't see the way the deputy officer was trembling. “Mr Winthrop, please If you can explain." Hunter walked forward and dropped a manilla envelope on the desk, the officer reached for it and his eyes went wide with fear, I wondered what was inside. “Yesterday, at twelve twenty eight pm, your officers arrested my business partner for a crime she did not commit. She was held here illegally, neither your or your men investigated the case and I wondered why.... Until I saw the amount of money Genevieva paid your men, until I saw what she had to do for you in order to keep an innocent woman locked up for good." The envelope fell from the man's trembling hands and a few pictures slipped out. “How did you get these?." The officer asked. Sweat coated his face and his eyes were filled with horror, one glance at the picture and my eyes almost rolled to the back of my head. Genevieva was naked with the deputy officer and they were both having s*x. The picture looked as if it was taken from a surveillance camera but it was sharp, so sharp I could see the delicate curve of Genevieva’s breast as the man squeezed it. “I have my ways, officer. I'm Hunter Winthrop, I'm not about to explain how I can find any information, whether it be sensitive or hidden." Hunter walked away from the desk and towards the window, my eyes followed him and I began to wonder who the f**k he was. I began to see him in a different light. “Now, am I supposed to explain to you what would happen if these pictures reached the supreme court? Your life would be ruined, everything you think you ever owned would be lost and… Just for the fun of it, I might just decide to go an extra mile and rid you of anything that could give you happiness for the rest of your life. You'd be so miserable even a church rat would have pity on you." I heard the officer let out a whimper. “Please, no. I'm begging you Mr Winthrop. Please, don't do this to me. Please. " The officer fell on his knees and tears streamed down his face. He was a big guy, about six two and he was reduced to a sobbing mess. Hunter turned away from the window and stared at the man, his eyes were cold and frosty. “Good. Now you know the right thing to do. And tell everyone you know, every one that has ears let them listen because if anyone even dares to think about hurting Freya, they're begging for my wrath and I will ruin them.”
