The Meaning of home

Sam walked with the sleeping girl in his arms. The poor thing had a trying and miserable day, to say the least. He just wanted her to feel safe. Well, it was a start. His mind link with his pack kept him company as they walked.  "They tied her hands? Why?" asked Rebeka as they walked, her large wolfish head shaking as if to scratch an itch in her main. She paused briefly to scratch it with her hind leg before continuing.  James growled ever so softly from behind the Alpha himself. "Alpha, This is far more than a simple lunch. They were going to hold her captive, thought her a threat enough to bind her hands. Vampires scared of a 9-year-old? Excuse me Alpha, But there's part of the story were missing." James was Sam's Beta. Second in command. His right hand. Sam appreciated James, He honoured the males No-Bullshit, Straight to the point attitude. Sam nodded as he walked, Mind linking them back. "I don't know why Rebeka, But I think James has a point. There's something extremely unique about this little girl and she was important enough for 2 of the leading vampires of the world to come looking for." He thought.  Not long after, they had crossed the most part of 6-7 miles they came across a fallen log, Once Sam stepped over the log, they entered a large clearing with an almost converted looking barn structure. It was defiantly a barn but it was modernised with another lever and rooms for each of the pack members. The barn was painted red with the winders embedded in the work painted gold. Small golden wall lands hung from the side of the barn to light the perimeter. The wolves would all disband to the right side of the barn while sam entered into the left-hand side with Ana and straight into the living quarters. He was met by his wife, Adelaide. To say she was shocked was an understatement. Her husband just entered there home with a limp little girl in his arms covered in blood. "Samuel.." she began. "Easy Ade, Vampire's killed her family and were sharing her south of the border. We rescued her. She thinks there sleeping." He said, clearly emotional about the entire thing he had gone through. Ade briskly walked over to the two of them. "Is she hurt?" she asked looking over what she could. "I don't think so. I think it's her parents." He said with a grim expression. Ade looked up at Sam with a frown. "Vampires killed her parents but didn't feed on them? This was an intentional killing?" she said as if asking for clarification, but it was already clear. Sam nodded.  "What's worse is that they tied her up and intended on taking her somewhere. That's when we showed up. We managed to chase them off." He said with a nod looking form his wife to the little angel in his arms. "I'm going to put her in one of my shirts and get her to bed. We can ask questions in the morning." He said as he kissed his wife's cheek and moved past her to the spare room next to their own. Sam would lay her down on the bed gently, retrieve a shirt from his room and return changing the child as if she would break if he handled her too harshly. Once his shirt was on her he threw the other one away and shuffled down to her feet. He would delicately pluck the thorns and splinters from her food, finally covering her up and leaving her to sleep soundly.
