Shena's End

443 Words
Shena watched as James's Front door opened and a beautiful brown-haired woman looked around before looking down at the infant and gasping. "Derrick! Derrick Quick!" she almost screeched, bending down and immediately lifting the tiny newborn in her arms. Shena quickly hid behind the tree as the woman scanned her property to look for the mother who left the child. The male called derrick quickly approached his wife from within the home. "Clair what on ear-" she could hear the male cut short and she then peeked to see him stopped by his wife side, staring down at the baby. "Quickly, bring her inside. It must be freezing out here." she ushered Clair inside the home, his hand intimately at the small of her back. He took one final glance outside, trying to catch a glimpse of the woman before grabbing the bag and withdrawing to go back inside, closing the door.  Shena took a deep breath and choked back a small sob as she turnt and left, the small vial clutched in her right hand. She wanted to find somewhere no one would find her. She came across an old rickety bridge in the forest that allowed people to cross over a large, rapid, deep river. This was it. The water would take her. She walked to the middle, took a deep breath and lifted her hand, opening it to look at the vial. "This is it. My last day on earth. I long to be free of this destiny, this punishment I have endured and indeed brought on my family." She opened the small bottle lifted it to her lips and tipped her head back drinking it. It was as if she was drinking fire. It was hot and it burnt its way down her oesophagus. Shena Gripped hold the side of the bridge, bracing her broken body against the wrath of the venom. It wasn't like a normal change, Shena was already half changed as it was. This vial just completed the process. Once it was done, she pulled the dagger from her boot and closed her eyes one, final time. She breathed in,  Breathed out and with one thrust of her hand the dagger tore through her flesh and entered straight into her heart. It hurt, god it hurt. Slowly, second, by the second she became dizzy, lethargic and then with the drop of consciousness she had left she teetered herself forward. Her body slumped over the railing and slowly rolled over it into the rapids.  The River did indeed carry her body away, cleansing it in a way. The only thing Shena left behind was her daughter and her memories.
