chapter 4 Adrian's POV

I was sitting in my office with Jacob, my beta and David, my gamma, and several of the warriors, getting updates on the situation of the missing girls.

Looking around at all my men's worried and stressed faces, " So, in other words, we have nothing to go on?" I bellowed, slamming my fists down on my desk

They all looked at each other " Alpha, we are trying, but whoever is behind this is covering their scent and not leaving anything to go on", Jacob said quietly.

Running my fingers through my hair in frustration, a loud growl reverberated through the room.

" So you are telling me in less than a week, two girls have gone missing, " I asked, deadly quiet," and we have f**k all to go on."

All the men hung their heads, nodding " Yes, Alpha, whoever is doing this is either very good or they are working with a witch."

" I want patrols stepped up, as well as around the pack village; I don't want to impose a lockdown yet if I don't have to"

"Yes, Alpha," they all said in unison.

We are the most significant and robust pack in Ontario if not all of Canada, and we can't even protect our women.

I knew we all felt helpless, and none of us liked it.

I waved my hand to dismiss them because someone was trying to mind link to me.

Alpha, please come to Lily's place.

What's wrong, Kyra?

I don't know if her door is open, and there is a smell of blood.

I froze; what the hell is going on?

Stay there and do not go in. I am on my way.

The mind link closed, and I looked at Jacob and David " We need to get to Lily's now!"

Worry crossed Jacob's face as Lily was Jacob's baby sister. He turned on his heel and started to walk to the door.

"Jacob," I called to my friend. He stopped and turned to face me; his Grey eyes were swirling with worry, brows furrowed, his mouth was a tight line, and his jaw was clenched " We will find her," I told him with more confidence than I felt " We will find them all!"

With that, we hurried to Lily's home, hoping it wasn't as bad as the others, but I had a sinking feeling in my stomach.

As soon as we neared Lily's, I started smelling the most beautiful scent. It smelled of oranges and cinnamon.

My wolf perked up and started pacing; the closer I got to the two women outside Lily's home, the one with long, dark, and green eyes, I knew she was my mate.

I looked into her eyes and saw fear and worry, " tell me everything ", I said, not taking my eyes off the small woman who was my mate. I reached out and grabbed her hand and started rubbing the back of it, feeling the soothing tingles go up my arm. I reached around, rubbed her back, leaned in, and told her, " You are Mine! My mate!"

She made eye contact with me and held it, and I almost missed what was being said,

" Yeah, she never showed up for work or called, " hooking a thumb at my mate " Shiann grew worried, then hearing some of the customers talk about the two other missing girls, she was terrified that something had happened to her."

So that was my mates' name, Shiann.

Looking over to Lily's home, I took in the scene before me; she always made sure doors and windows were locked.

Especially after what happened five years ago, five women had gone missing, and the previous Alpha, Alpha William, had been killed. That was when I became Alpha, and the disappearances stopped.

We never stopped looking for them, but just like last time, there were no clues.

I knew my mate and Kyra had followed us to the door, and turning to look at them, "Wait here", I commanded

Of course, they ignored my command, groaning. We stepped inside; I knew Shiann would calm herself until she knew what had happened to Lily.

Once inside Lily's home, we looked around her neat living room; nothing appeared out of place.

We followed the scent of blood to Lily's bedroom and saw the blood on the wall by her bed and on her bed.

With a sinking feeling in my gut," GET OUT! NOW!" I yelled at them.

Looking around a little closer, we noticed that written in Lily's blood was " K", and that's all we were able to find.

Walking back outside, Kyra looked visibly upset and was talking to beta Jacob " I'm taking Shiann back to my place."

Jacob nodded " Alright, we will meet you there if we have any further questions."

As they walked away, I could hear my mate crying. And my wolf got upset that our mate was bitter. It took everything I had not to go chasing after her, but we needed to figure out what was happening as soon as possible this was getting out of hand.
