Chapter 1

THE SOUTHERN PACK

Two naked figures lay soundlessly asleep, their entangled within the white sheets-

Ring! Ring!

A hand reaches out to grab the ringing cellphone from the pocket of pair of jeans on the floor. Forgotten while they immersed in getting each other’s clothes off last night. He puts the phone to his ear without opening his eyes and a frown on his face.

“What is it?" He groans out. Annoyed, he wasn’t supposed to be getting calls this early in the morning.

“Alpha, you have an urgent message from the council that has arrived this morning.” The person at the end of line answers.

“How urgent is it, James, that you have to disregard my most important rule?" The Alpha growled clearly still annoyed by his Beta.

“You and all the other Alphas have been summoned by the Council, sir.” James answered in a serious tone.

“When?” He demands as he sits up on the bed clearly surprised by the answer.

“ In two weeks times, sir.”

This was a first. The Council hasn't summoned all Alphas at same time since before he was born.

After that he hangs up the phone without saying another word. He was never a nice man so he didn't need to pretend he was.

The woman next to him begins

wake up.

"Good morning, Alpha." she purrs with a grin on her face.

As she looks up from the bed, the sheets only covering so much.

She gets up from the bed and walks over to the man standing across the room. Then she sneaks her hands around his neck as she stares intently into his eyes.

"Rebecca, you need to leave." He says as he unwraps Rebecca's arms from his neck. Then he turns to head for the bathroom.

"But we aren't done yet, Ace" she whines out, clearly not liking the fact that she has to leave. She follows him to bathroom.

Ace growls," You should have left last night, Rebecca, you lucky I'm not kicking out right now."

"How about I join in that shower, you seem a little tense, baby," she says ignoring everything Ace just told her.

"Get out, Rebecca."

She always did this. Whenever Ace spends the night with her. She never wants to leave.

Rebecca turns to leave and slams the door of the bathroom as she walks out.

Normally, Ace wouldn't mind letting her stay a few minutes before kicking her out. Since that phonecall with James, all he could think about was the summons. He needed to get more information. And understand what was so urgent that all the Alphas need to be summoned.

With that thought he walked into the shower and shut the door.

THE NORTHERN PACK

There are two men sitting across from each other on the table.

"Alex, what did the Council want." Xavier asked clearly annoyed by mention of them.

"You have all been summoned by the Council to attend a meeting in Germany, sir." Alex answered.

"What do you mean we've all been summoned by the Council."

" All the Alphas, sir. My contact at the High Court says it has to do rogues."

"What about them?"

"They have declared war on us, sir."

"When did the Council start allowing a bunch of filthy, rotten to summon-

Knock! Knock!

"Who is it?!"

They both turn to door as it opens.

"Sir, we got a problem."
