Sienna's POV:
The next morning, I casually opened i********:.
The top post was a nine-photo grid posted by Nina.
The middle photo was a close-up of a cake.
The cake had been made into the shape of a little bone, with candles stuck into it, and the words "Baby Nini is one" written on top.
I casually swiped past it.
But in the next second, I froze completely.
In the remaining photos, Lance was holding the puppy in all of them.
He smiled at the camera, his eyes curving with it.
I knew that smile very well.
When Lance was truly happy, he smiled like that.
But I could no longer remember the last time I had seen him smile that way.
Nina's caption for the post was:
Celebrating Nini's birthday. Someone was even happier than the star of the day.
I stared at Lance's smiling face in the photo for a long time.
My heart sank little by little.
So when he said yesterday that he was "working overtime at the company," he was lying to me.
He had forgotten our wedding anniversary completely.
Yet he remembered to celebrate the birthday of Nina's dog.
My heart felt both sour and cold.
How ridiculous.
So in his heart, I was not even worth as much as a dog.
The phone screen slowly dimmed.
I placed my phone face down on the table and suddenly remembered something else.
Three years ago, on the day of the company celebration banquet, Lance had been forced to drink quite a lot.
He was so drunk that he could barely stand, yet he kept clinging to my side.
Someone laughed and teased, "Mr. Reynolds, how did you manage to win your wife over back then? Share some experience with us. Everyone wants to know."
Everyone around us pricked up their ears, waiting to hear the answer.
Lance leaned against me, tilted his head, stared at my face, and blurted out, "Win her over? She just looks like..."
Halfway through his sentence, he suddenly stopped.
At the time, I did not think much of it.
I had always thought he had only misspoken.
Now, thinking back on it, I finally understood.
That had actually been the truth spoken under the influence of alcohol.
For some reason, I asked someone to draft a divorce agreement for me.
