I woke up in the morning with purpose in my steps. I showered faster than I usually did and stood in front of the mirror, staring at my reflection like I was meeting someone new.
The woman looking back at me wasn’t the same one who had walked into that courthouse and gotten married just over a week ago. Today, I was going to do something entirely different, something I had never done before. I was going to walk into a place that had once reduced me to nothing, and this time, I was going to walk in as their new head and C.E.O.
I smoothed my hands down the front of my outfit. It was a tailored cream blouse tucked neatly into a fitted black skirt. I wore it because i was simple, elegant and powerful. Also, because it wasn’t too loud.
