Chapter 3 The Mating Ceremony

I had to admit I am pretty scared of the mating ceremony, not because I don't love Ronan but because I don't think I'd ever become a good luna.

Just look at me, I'm the only wolf who at 19 still has no powers. I've never even heard my wolf speak.

Back then, Ronan would always stand up for me whenever people laughed at me.

I still remember that one time, I put a bag of squirrel pee right into the swimming pool where the boys were swimming.

Well..... in my defense, they called me powerless and asked me to do my worst

And who am I to resist such a beautiful offer.

That day, they all went home smelling pretty terrible.

A quick reminder: squirrel pee has the most disgusting smell ever. Don't even ask me how i got that.

The boys wanted payback. They wanted

to wreck my bicycle but lucky for me, My

hero Ronan came right on time and saved me.

Ever since, we 're little, everyone

had always paired me and Ronan together.

I don't know, but I think it's cuz we look so

cute together. But right now, i don't think

i want to be luna anymore.

Well.... I mean I can't even put my tampons in properly not to talk of leading a whole kingdom.

That's just too much work.

I know I'll probably just leave all the work for Ronan while I have the time of my life, playing with my violin in the forest.

Speaking of my violin, it's time for

me to go and play.

I loved playing the violin especially to the birds and small animals.I know it's just my imagination but I think they like it.

I got my violin and went to go play

in my favourite spot. I was so physically and mentally exhausted today from all the cloth picking and stuffs I did today.

I struck one note ...

And suddenly all the birds flew away.

That was weird....

"Yh that's the thank you, I get for

entertaining you" i screamed to the birds

as they all flew away.

As i stood up to leave, I felt

Something wet on my shoulders.

I raised my hands and touched it.

"Ewww grossss!" I shrieked.

The audacity of those birds to poop on me.

This day can't get any worse.

"Lyra, lyra, lyraaa" a sharp screaming

voice echoed through the forest.

"What is it, why you screaming my name so loud"

I asked in annoyance as my best friend

Celeste ran towards me and gave me a big

hug.

"Eww, what's that smell" she asked as

she covered her noise.

"The smell of my frustrations" I sighed ....

"Your mother has been looking all over the place for you, she needs to fill you in on your luna duties and things you should and shouldn't do" and most importantly you need a hot bath!!" Celeste said all at once.

"BORING, I don't need luna duties, I'm my own queen. I make my rules" I said as I flung my hair sideways for dramatic effects.

Celeste just rolled her eyes and started

dragging me towards the pack house.

Obviously, she had had enough. That's why, I loved her.

My only friend who could tolerate lots of my

bullshit and know how to handle it

"Would you STOP dragging me already" I said impatiently

"No" she replied "your mother said she'd have my head on a plate if I'd return home without you "

As we moved, the pack members joyfully

Congratulated me on becoming the next luna.

"Look, our luna is making an entrance, all hail luna"One pack member shouted.

Soon the place was filled with shouts of " all hail

luna"

Just as mother taught me, I bowed and responded to their greetings, deeply resisting the urge to tell them to shut the hell up and move out of my way.

Today was my moon ceremony, the

day I finally unite with my mate.

Everything was going smoothly except for the tightness of the dress i was putting on.

I felt like I was being punished for a crime I didn't know I committed.

And I think the lady" forgot " to sow in my pocket like i asked.

Elder Oberon lead us through the ceremony.

he sang us incantations and prayers to the moon

goddess.

Elder Oberon continued chanting.

Five minutes later,he was still chanting...

Another Five minutes later passed, he was still chanting.

I was beginning to suspect he was making some of the words up.

I couldn't wait for this to be over, At least after today,Ronan can stop pretending not to stare every time I wore a short dress.

Elder Oberon's voice echoes " when the

moon reaches its highest point, the goddess

shall bless the destined mates"

I was pretty much bored so I looked up

to the sky and that's when i saw it.

The moon.

It was red.

Not silver,

Not pale white

"Has it always looked like that" I whispered

but no body answered

Because every wolf......

Was staring at me
