Anna flung open the door and stood staring at Emily for a long moment before practically tackling her daughter. Emily and Emmett weren't sure what to do as Anna choked on her own apologies for her behavior. After several minutes of standing in the doorway, Emily guided her mother to a brand-new couch. The dining room table and chairs were back. There were pictures on the walls and a fresh bouquet of roses in a vase that Emily had never seen before. Anna sobbed onto her daughter's shoulder, and Emmett stood awkwardly in the kitchen trying to give them space.
