Dark clouds swallowed the skies above Eryndor as thousands of Harvester warships emerged from hyperspace. Their black hulls formed a vast ring around the planet, blotting out the stars.
On the surface, Aiden watched countless streaks of crimson fire descend toward the forests.
"They're here," he said.
The Guardian Beast released a thunderous roar that echoed across the mountains. Its cry awakened something hidden beneath the ancient world. The valley trembled as colossal stone statues, buried for thousands of years, rose from the earth. Each statue took the form of a Guardian warrior, their eyes glowing with blue fire.
Seraphis smiled for the first time.
"The Sentinels of Eryndor. They have slept since the fall of the Architects."
The giant stone warriors marched toward the approaching enemy, each step shaking the ground.
Across the valley, Lyra looked up as the beam of light from the mountain pierced the heavens.
"He found it," she whispered.
Commander Rhea turned to her. "Then we have one chance. We must reach him before the Harvesters do."
Alliance dropships lifted into the air, racing through the forests while Harvester landing craft crashed into the ground around them. The battle had begun.
Aiden sprinted along the glowing stone path with the Guardian Beast at his side. The path led to a colossal temple carved directly into the mountainside. Its entrance was guarded by two towering statues holding crystal swords crossed before massive golden doors.
As Aiden approached, the statues slowly lowered their weapons.
The doors opened.
Inside, the temple glowed with rivers of blue energy flowing through its walls. At the center of a vast chamber floated a crystal shaped like a seven-pointed star.
The First Celestial Key.
It pulsed gently, as though it had been waiting for him.
Aiden stepped forward.
The moment his hand touched the Key, brilliant light exploded throughout the chamber.
The Key dissolved into pure energy and entered the Star Spear.
New symbols spread across the weapon, and brilliant wings of light briefly appeared behind Aiden before fading.
A voice echoed through the temple.
"First Key acknowledged."
"One of seven restored."
Outside, the ground shook violently.
The temple walls cracked.
A deafening explosion echoed from the valley.
Aiden rushed outside to see Harvester forces overwhelming the Alliance defenders. The ancient Sentinels fought fiercely, but more enemy soldiers continued pouring from the sky.
Then he saw Lyra.
She stood atop a rocky ridge, holding back a wave of Harvester drones with streams of golden energy.
Their eyes met across the battlefield.
Without saying a word, they both smiled.
The Starborn had finally found each other.
Before either could move, the air between them split open.
A figure stepped through the darkness.
Unlike the Eclipse Hunters, this warrior wore silver-black armor decorated with crimson markings. A long cloak flowed behind him, and a massive black sword rested upon his shoulder.
His helmet dissolved into shadows, revealing a scarred face and glowing crimson eyes.
"I am General Kaelzor, First Blade of the Void King."
His gaze settled on Aiden.
"You have claimed the First Key."
Then he looked toward Lyra.
"And now both Starborn stand before me."
He slowly drew his sword.
"I have waited centuries for this moment."
The mountain trembled as an immense wave of dark energy swept across the battlefield.
Even the Guardian Beast took a cautious step backward.
For the first time since the Harvest began, the Starborn faced an opponent whose power rivaled that of the ancient Guardians themselves.
Even the clash of weapons and the thunder of explosions seemed to fade as General Kaelzor stepped forward. His crimson eyes burned like dying suns, and the black blade in his hand radiated an aura that caused the air itself to tremble.
Aiden instinctively raised the Star Spear.
Across the valley, Lyra gathered golden energy around her hands.
Kaelzor smiled.
"So this is what remains of the Guardians."
He vanished.
A sonic boom split the air.
In the blink of an eye, he appeared in front of Aiden, his sword crashing against the Star Spear with such force that the impact shattered the ground beneath them.
Aiden was thrown backward, crashing through a cluster of ancient pillars.
Before Kaelzor could strike again, a wave of golden energy slammed into his side.
Lyra.
She landed beside Aiden without taking her eyes off the enemy.
"You must be Aiden."
"And you're Lyra."
Despite the chaos around them, both smiled briefly.
"It looks like we finally found each other," Aiden said.
Lyra nodded.
"Let's survive long enough to talk."
Kaelzor laughed, the sound echoing across the valley.
"Excellent."
"The prophecy never mentioned whether the Starborn would die together."
He raised one hand.
Hundreds of Harvester drones descended from the sky like a swarm of metal locusts.
Alliance soldiers opened fire, while the ancient Sentinels marched forward, crushing the machines beneath their stone feet. The Guardian Beast roared and charged into the enemy ranks, sweeping dozens of drones aside with a single strike of its massive tail.
The battlefield became a storm of fire, light, and steel.
Aiden and Lyra stood back to back.
Without speaking, they moved as one.
Aiden's spear released arcs of brilliant blue lightning that tore through enemy ranks.
Lyra lifted her hands, bending gravity itself. Harvester soldiers were ripped from the ground and hurled into the sky before crashing back to the earth.
Their powers complemented one another perfectly.
The Starborn fought as though they had trained together for years.
Watching from afar, Seraphis smiled.
"The bond has awakened."
Kaelzor's expression darkened.
He planted his sword into the ground.
Dark energy erupted outward in every direction.
The wave struck everything in its path.
Ancient trees withered instantly.
Stone Sentinels cracked and collapsed.
Alliance soldiers were thrown from their feet.
Even the Guardian Beast staggered.
Only Aiden and Lyra remained standing.
The First Celestial Key embedded within Aiden's Star Spear began to glow.
Lyra's body answered with a radiant golden light.
The two energies reached toward each other, intertwining into a single pillar that shot into the heavens.
High above Eryndor, hidden temples across distant worlds awakened one after another.
Ancient Guardian beacons lit up across the galaxy.
A forgotten signal, silent for thousands of years, spread faster than light.
Far beyond known space, on planets that humanity had never discovered, hidden races looked toward the stars.
"The Starborn have returned," their elders whispered.
Hope, long thought extinct, flickered to life across the galaxy.
But aboard the Oblivion, the Void King watched the rising pillar of light without fear.
He slowly rose from his throne.
"So... the Twin Flames have awakened."
He extended his hand toward the stars.
"Awaken the Leviathan."
Deep within the darkness between galaxies, something immense stirred.
Its heartbeat echoed through the void.
One eye opened.
It was larger than a moon.
And it had been sleeping for ten thousand years.
