Chapter 9

2307 Words
Rydell’s POV “f**k!” I tossed my wrist watch after I entered my office. I locked the door to make sure Hazel won’t follow me in here or else, I won’t be able to resist anymore. But confessing to her this early, isn’t it the same thing? f**k. f**k those bullshit who made her like that. I’ll make sure they pay for this. But for now, I need to f*****g calm down the thing in me. Seeing Hazel’s body, it’s killing me. I want to touch her, I want to taste her, I want her so badly that it’s torturing me now that I didn’t even take it. But I can’t. I don’t want her to hate me. “If you won’t give me vengeance out of pity, then take your payment. Buy me my revenge and my body is yours.” “f*****g hell,” I whispered. I desperately removed my clothes and walked to the bathroom. I can still feel the warmth of her bare skin through my palm. I can still see her curves, and hips that I want to wreck. I’m madly head over heels for her and I had to admit that. She thinks that I don’t desire her. To hell with that, if only she knew how much I wanted to pin her on that mattress and claim her. She’s not a woman who will offer herself to someone just to get what she wants, but she has no choice. The orphanage is very important to her. That’s part of her life, and someone decided to tear it. I won’t forgive them. I turn on the shower, and lean my forehead against the wall. I let the cold water calm my burning body, and wash over the idea of tasting Hazel down there. I need to wash away these dirty thoughts or else when I see her again later, I won’t be able to control myself. Then I heard a phone ringing. It’s coming from my desk. If it’s just my personal phone, I know it’s just about my legal business. But if it’s the phone on my office desk, it’s about my clan or anything connected to my underground activities. I force my naked body out of the shower and walk slowly to my desk. “Tell me you have a lead, Jake,” I said. “Who are the bastards who did that to the orphanage?" “We’re pulling traffic cams and local satellites now, Boss,” Jake responds. “The masked shooter Cole took out was a local mercenary- he doesn’t belong to any syndicate. And his files are completely wiped out. Either he’s an American or a foreigner we can’t tell. But the tech team just intercepted a secondary feed from a trail cam half a mile down the countryside road. Two minutes before the fire started, a black sedan bypassed the main route. We caught a clear shot of a second man standing near the tree line while the building was on fire.” “Was it a witness or an accomplice of that damn guy that Cole killed?” I asked while walking to the dark pathway of my office. “You’d be surprised, Boss. “ “What?” “It’s Mr. Alejandro Silvano’s secretary.” My grip tightens on the phone. It’s that asshole Ariston Silvano’s Father. Isn't it clear that his son was the one causing Hazel’s pain? What do they want? “Assemble the red team. “ I command, “We will visit an old friend.” After I said that, I tossed the phone to dress quickly. Does he not know that Hazel is now under my protection? How dare someone like him touch my wife? If that’s the case, then I should prepare a gift for Alejandro. **** “All clear, Boss.” Jake reported from the earbuds that I’m wearing. It’s cold outside Alejandro Silvano’s estate because it’s already midnight. Just a pity that this silence of the night would be filled with Alejandro’s tears later. That fucker, - he left my team just to be a high-ranking official who thought his wealth and political ties would prevent me from touching him. He’s wrong. My newly formed team, the Reds, are trained for highly skilled tropes that high ranking officials like him always hire. They are so skilled that they almost surpassed my four alphas; Jake, Kane, Cole, and Mason. The Reds moved like shadows through the garden, they had cut all the alarms, and killed the securities with no sounds. By the time I stepped through the electronics locks of the back entrance, all of Silvano’s men were already lying on the ground. I followed the echoing sound of laughter and clinking glasses. I walk up to the grand staircase and down to the west wing, Cole and Jake are behind me holding their rifles while their eyes are busy pointing their guns everywhere. Then we stopped at the master suite. The double doors are wide open, and I can smell a variety of light, and heavy perfume and alcohol coming from there. And as I reached the entrance, I saw Alejandro sitting in the center of the bed, with red wine in his hand, laughing hysterically as four hired naked women were entertaining him. He’s oblivious to the world outside his bedroom. He didn’t even notice that I’m here standing and watching him. I lean against the doorframe, crossing my arms over my chest as Jake and Cole walk in the opposite direction leaving me alone here. I watch Alejandro with disgust. Remembering Hazel’s voice screaming while watching the orphanage burning. And this man is enjoying his night while my wife is probably still crying now. I didn’t hesitate to aim my gun on the woman on the edge of the mattress and pull the trigger. The sound of the gunshot echoed through the room. The bullet caught the woman in the chest. Her laughter earlier turned into desperate gasps as she collapsed on the floor. The remaining three women shrieked in absolute terror and stayed in the corner of the room, crying. I looked at Alejandro, and he froze. His wine glass slipped from his fingers and shattered on the floor. His face went pale seeing the body of the woman on the floor. His eyes locked onto me. “R-Rydell…” Alejandro stammered, his voice losing all the effects of the alcohol, instead he trembles and forces his body to move backward. “W-What is the meaning of this? Why are you here? You just can’t break in-” “Silence.” I said. I stepped into the bedroom. Cole and Jake moved past me, instantly checking if the women were armed and then guided them out because they’re aware that I won’t let anyone leave this room once Alejandro doesn't speak to me honestly. I stopped when I reached the bed, and looked over the looming terrified man who once ranked as the weakest in my army. “You have exactly one minute to tell me why your secretary is involved with a rogue mercenary who burned my wife's sanctuary. “I whispered, raising my gun directly between his legs. “Your life depends on your answer, Alejandro.” “Y-Your wife sanctuary? I never ordered him to offend your wife, I…I don’t even know you had a wife. What are you talking about?” I walked closer to him and pointed the gun on his forehead. “Your pawn burned my wife’s home. And even threaten her. Are you kidding me?” “N-No! I ordered him to do something else regarding my son's ex-fiancee, not your wife…” He stopped and choked on his own words. He probably realized that what I’m saying and what he’s saying are making sense. So I flash a grin on my face. “I am Rydell McLeroy Kierston, and Hazel is my wife.” Alejandro’s face went completely speechless. His jaw slackened, his whole face went pale as if blood ran out from his body. Maybe now he realized that his son had not only crossed a random man, but instead it's me. Of course, even if it’s me in his shoes, I’ll be paralysed. I’m about to pull the trigger if Jake didn’t brutally throw another man in the room. He’s wearing a signature suit but it’s now tainted with the blood of the woman on the floor. “Found him trying to slip through the underground garage, Boss,” Jake reported. His one foot is pressing the man’s head on the blood. “We ran his personal burner phone. He’s the secretary. He’s the one who wired the untraceable funds and organized the words that the masked man told to Mrs. Keirston.” I look at Alejandro before a devilish smile escapes from my face. That’s the very man who organised the nightmare of Hazel. I will make sure even hell won’t recognise him. “Jake,” I said calmly but deeply. “Bring me his head. Now.” “Wait! Please! Don Rydell, wait!” the secretary shouted as he fought Jake one foot. He lifted his body with his eyes full of terror seeing Jake pull out a combat knife. “I was just following Mr. Alejandro’s order. He told me to do that so Hazel will come here crawling for shaming Ariston. I have no loyalty to them! I know all of their offshore accounts, their political bribes, their smuggling routes! I can give you everything!” I watch him crawl forward a few inches in me. “Take me into your clan instead! Please! I’m very useful! Please! I can be your eyes and ears inside the city administration. I can do things your soldiers can’t. Just please, spare my life!” I stared down at him, I can’t believe this kind of person actually exists. I lowered my Beretta, and tilted my head a little as if I was actually weighing his worth. “An asset inside the administration of the government?” I murmured. Before I take a slow step towards him. “You know their offshore accounts? This is good, right Jake?” “Yes! Yes, everything!” He proudly cried, with a pathetic gleam of hope in his eyes. “ I can transfer the file now if you want. I will be your loyal servant.” “Is that so?” I whispered, then stopped right in front of him. I crouched down to reach him and gently pat his cheek. He responded with a trembling desperate smile. Before he could even say anything again I drew the silver knife on my vest and sliced it across his throat in one swift and steady motion. “You keep saying the word ‘loyal’ while your master is watching you. Do you think you truly understand that word? “ I muttered as I pulled the blanket on the bed to wipe the blood on my knife. “Hang his head on the gate.” “Yes, boss.” Jake and Cole replied in the same tone. I turned my attention back to Alejandro, who was now hyperventilating on the corner of the bed. I didn’t care about Ariston. That boy was a spineless dog hiding in the shadows and this isn’t his time yet. Right now, the problem is sitting right here. I step over the corpse of his secretary, approaching the foot of his bed again. “Don’t look so horrified, Alejandro,” I said and reached into my jacket pocket. “I didn’t come here tonight to clean up your staff. You’re my old friend, you know. So to swear to you that I’m just here to kill that bastard who organized my wife’s nightmare. I prepared some gifts for you.” One of the Reds gave me a tablet. After checking the contents, I tossed it on the bloody mattress. It slid against his trembling thigh. “Pick it up.” I commanded. With shaking fingers, Alejandro lifted the screen. The first live feed displayed a breaking news report that a private charter plane had suffered a catastrophic engine failure over the ocean just ten minutes ago. His wife’s name was scrolling across the bottom of the casualty list. Before he could even scream, I pointed my gun on his forehead. Then another notification came in, it was about his corporate headquarters burning. “No…No, please, God, no!” Alejandro screamed. I watched him lose his sanity and threw the tablet on me before he wildly tried to attack me. He didn’t even get close. And this is why he can’t ever debut as one of my team. With a brutal pivot, I hit him with my gun that made him down to the floor. I didn’t kill him, that’s too easy. “Don’t be too sad, Alejandro. I’m just returning what you did to my wife.” I said while adjusting my black sleeves. Seeing him screaming with pain, I know that my fun was done. I turned my back then Cole and Jake instantly followed me, leaving the old man groveling in his own blood. We moved out of the mansion without even one trying to stop us. As we stepped out in the estate. I look at Cole. “Korea or Paris?” “W-what? “ “Answer me.” “Paris?” Then I looked at Jake and said. “Book me a flight to Paris, today.” Jake and Cole paused, their both acting clueless. “Paris, Boss why? Do we have operations there?” I looked up at the moon, and thought about Hazel’s face. She needed to breathe, away from this city. “I’m bringing my wife there,” I answered. “It’s our honeymoon.”
