Camilla Martini's Point Of View.
Dear Diary,
It's been 20 years, 10 months, 7 days, and 12 hours since Hunter lost his way home, and he still has not returned. Each and every passing moment without him feels heavier than the last. It feels like an eternity, and the ache of his absence lingers in every corner of my heart. Each and every day feels emptier without him, and I can not help but feel a sense of guilt and loneliness weighing me down. It's like a part of me is missing, and no matter how much time passes, I can not shake this feeling of longing for his return. I find myself yearning for his familiar presence and his comforting embrace. The weight of his absence hangs heavy on my heart, while each and every moment without him makes me feel lonelier. It's a burden I carry with me each and every day and as each day passes without him, the longing only grows stronger.
Tonight, at the stroke of midnight, I will be boarding a flight to Milan, Italy. It's a journey I must embark on, even though each and every fiber of my being longs for Hunter and regret gnaws at me relentlessly while reminding me of the choices I have made unknowingly and the consequences they have wrought but duty calls, and I must answer.
With love,
Camilla
Pondering over my feelings, I glanced out of the window at the moon. Its soft glow offered a moment of calm in the midst of my swirling emotions. Yet, despite its beauty, I could not shake the numbness in my heart. As the minutes passed, my departure time drew nearer, leaving me feeling unsettled and uncertain about what lay ahead.
I rose from my chair, took a long breath before the urgency of my journey put me into action. At First, I made my way to the bathroom, and turned on the shower. The sound of the water was providing a soothing backdrop to my thoughts. Well, stepping under the warm spray, I let the water wash away the tension of the day which allowed myself a moment of respite before the chaos of travel began.
After drying off, I walked to my room and stood before the mirror. With a steady hand, I applied a light layer of makeup, opting for a natural look to complement my features. I lifted my eyelashes and apply the water proof masscara. After a moment, I swiped on a bold red lipstick, It added a pop of color to my otherwise understated ensemble and It looked as a silent rebellion against the darkness that had surrounded me.
Next, I selected my outfit for the journey ahead. I opted for comfort and practicality. I slipped into a cozy turtleneck brown sweater. Its soft fabric was providing warmth against the chill of the night air and fitted me perfectly. I paired it with my white jeans which also fitted me like a gloves. The outfit striked the perfect balance between style and functionality.
With my attire chosen, I turn my attention to my hair. After drying it up at first, I decided to pull it back into a sleek, tight and high ponytail. The simple style keeps my hair out of my face while adding a touch of sophistication to my look. Finally, I added a few minimal accessories - a delicate necklace and a pair of stud earrings to complete my whole look.
I pulled on a pair of long brown boots with long heels, while their sturdy construction was offering support for the long day ahead. I take a moment to ensure that I have everything I need for the journey as I sling my brown bag over my shoulder.
With one last glance in the mirror, I nodded in satisfaction and took a long deep breath in order to calm my racing nerves.
I grabbed my medium sized trolley, while the wheels were clicking against the marble floor of my spacious apartment and the soft glow of the chandeliers overhead casted a warm light on me, as I made my way to the elevator. The walls were adorned with elegant artwork.
Even at this late hour, the city was alive with activity, the sounds of car horns and distant chatter were filling the air. It was a stark contrast to the stillness I was feeling inside, Towering buildings were aiming for the sky while their lights were twinkling like stars and the burden of my past action was pressing heavily on my mind.
I climbed into the cab and as I settled into the backseat, the cab driver glanced at me through the rearview mirror, while his eyes were reflecting curiosity.
"Where to, miss?" He asked while his voice was deep and rough with years of navigating the city's streets.
"The airport, please," I replied while my voice was tinged with exhaustion.
"Late night flight?" He inquired while his tone was sympathetic.
I nod while offering a weak smile. "Yes, Milan. It's a last minute trip."
The driver nodded understandingly and pulled away from the curb as he merged into the flow of traffic. We rode in silence for a few moments, while the hum of the engine was filling the space between us.
"Beautiful night, isn't it?" He remarked while gesturing toward the moonlit sky.
I followed his gaze and took in the sight of the full moon hanging low on the horizon. "Yes, it is," I agreed softly while a pang of longing tugged at my heart.
The driver nodded again while his expression was unreadable. "Mind if I turn on some music?" He asked after a moment while breaking the silence once more.
I shook my head and was grateful for the distraction as I spoke with a warm smile towards him, "That would be nice, thank you."
As we navigated the busy streets, I could not help but marvel at the city's relentless energy. Neon signs flickered and streetlights illuminated the bustling sidewalks while casting long shadows in the darkness. It was a stark contrast to the heaviness weighing on my heart. It felt like a reminder that life goes on even when everything feels upside down.
As I stepped out of the car at the airport after a few hour of tarvel, I felt a mix of nervousness and excitement swirling inside me and could feel a rush of anticipation coursing through my veins.
"Thank you," I said to the driver while handing him the fare.
"No problem, miss. Have a safe trip," He replied with a smile towards me. It was late, but the airport was still buzzing with activity. People hurried past me while their voices were blending into a constant hum of noise.
Dragging my luggage behind me, I made my way to the check-in counter. The attendant smiled politely as she handed me my boarding pass, "Here you go, ma'am. Enjoy your flight," She said cheerfully.
"Thank you," I replied while offering her a forced smile in return as I tried to hide the knot of tension in my stomach.
After passing through security, I found myself in the departure lounge, surrounded by rows of comfortable sofas and bustling travelers. The familiar scent of coffee and pastries filled the air as I searched for my gate. I located the same and took a seat.
"Attention passengers, flight 345 to Milan is now boarding at gate 12," The announcement echoed through the terminal after the few more hours of wait and with a deep breath, I gathered my belongings and made my way to the gate. Finally, it was time to board the plane.
"Good evening, ma'am. May I see your boarding pass?" The flight attendant greeted me as I approached inside the plane. I smiled warmly towards her as I handed her my boarding pass, and she directed me inside with a polite smile.
I was directed towards the front of the plane where the business class seats awaited. The plush leather seats looked inviting and promising comfort for the long journey ahead.
"Welcome aboard, ma'am," Another flight attendant greeted me warmly as I settled into my seat and fastened my seatbelts.
"Thank you," I replied while feeling a sense of relief wash over me as I sank into the luxurious surroundings.
The extra legroom and adjustable seat settings were a welcome change from the cramped confines of economy class. Oh man, i was going to sleep for sure, the whole trip. As the flight attendant offered me a glass of champagne, I could not help but smile, grateful for the little luxuries that made this trip feel a bit more comfortable.
The plane began its journey as it taxied down the runway and lifted into the air. With a soft hum of the engines lulling me into a sense of calm, I could not help but feel a sense of anticipation again for the journey ahead.
Looking out the window, I watched as the lights of the airport faded into the distance and I could not shake the feeling of uncertainty that gripped me but amidst it all, there was a flicker of hope. My mind wandered to Hunter. Despite the passage of time and the distance between us, his presence had always lingered in my thoughts. I could not help but wish for one more chance to see him, to speak with him and to reconcile the unresolved emotions that still weighed heavily on my heart.
With a heavy sigh, I closed my eyes and whispered a silent prayer while hoping that fate would one day bring us together again but for now, I had a journey to embark on, and Milan awaited me at the end of this flight.
