Courtney crosses the carpet for the sixth time, her hands on her waist and mumbling nonsense to herself. Her hands changes from its position on her waist to her chin while her eyes depict her chaotic thoughts. Not until she crosses the carpet for the seventh time, that her mother —Kim— calls her sharply. “You've been pacing for hours, Courtney. Ever since you came home, you've not said anything, you've not eaten, you've just been pacing, speaking to yourself like a deranged woman,” she says worrisomely as she stares at her daughter unraveling in front of her. Courtney sighs deeply and sits on the chair across her mother, a deep frown plastered on her upset face. “I can't believe it, Mom. Like after everything, I made sure that my plan was foolproof,” she smacked her lips in irritation
