Filidi Hills was a small rural town deep in the valleys of KwaZulu Natal province. It was once a growing coal minning town but with times many of the mines had closed and with them taken all the hope and prosperity it once had. The population was by no means small, humans and werewolves alike lived side by side. Once upon a time the werepeople were an open secret, feared and avoided by the humans, but now they were an urban myth. The elders knew the truth but knew better than to speak of it, they kept garlic and silver crosses hung on front doors a noble but pointless exercise.
The werewolves were known as ama ZimZim. A folklore name used by the Zulu humans. Werewolves here were similar to their counterparts in other parts of the world. They were human at most times but had the ability to shift at will into wolve like beasts, often as large as a fully grown male lions, as fast as the fiercest leopard their appearance not unlike the infamus spotted hyenas; but many times larger, much more lethal and powerful. The moon and the moongoddess Mawu/ Selene held their power over the werewolves destiny. The moon gave them their power as it peaked during its cycle. They worshipped Mawu and held moonlight celebrartions in her honor. Noks often wondered and prayed to Mawu for strength amd peace, she prayed to oneday meet her mate; as she knew that is were her true happiness would lie.
