chapter 04'hospital

1100 Words
Emma slowly began to open her eyes, the woman's gaze began to look up to fill the room with shades of white, her sense of smell slowly began to catch the smell of medicine. A person in black clothes who had been waiting for Emma to wake up started ringing a bell near Emma until a few people in white clothes, who Emma believed were medical personnel, began to check Emma's condition and ask Emma several questions. The medics and the man in black talked to each other for a while before they all left Emma alone in the room again. Emma still couldn't do anything, she had absolutely no energy, her whole body felt numb and couldn't move at all. Emma could only feel pain in her left wrist which was now covered in gauze. Emma remembered she scratched a piece of broken plate and saw thick blood seep starting to wet her hand then everything went dark and Emma became unconscious. Emma concluded that she failed to die and instead lay alone in this hospital room complete with a guard standing right in front of the door because Emma could see the silhouette of someone's body behind the door. Not long after, the door opened again, a tall man began to walk into the room, followed by a man with a large body and graying hair. Emma sighed when she saw Damian and Martin, her father. The woman could only close her eyes for a few moments to suppress all her irritation and sadness. Emma couldn't bear to look at Martin's face for long, especially with her body in this condition, she couldn't do much other than stare back at her father. "Are you awake? Can you hear well?" Damian approached Emma then spoke to the woman in a suppressed voice with a finger pointing towards his ear, trying to corner Emma. "Listen to what your father says," Damian pointed at Martin who was standing around the two of them, then the man immediately removed himself, allowing father and daughter to talk to each other. Damian chose to sit on the sofa in the room, watching the parents who were now starting to approach the bed where Emma was lying. Martin was seen looking down at his daughter, while Emma tried to look away. Damian was very sure that the relationship between father and daughter was not good, after all, what father would easily exchange his daughter for debt. Meanwhile, Emma still didn't want to look at Martin, she was too lazy, too hurt. The reason is, this is not the first time Emma has been sold like an animal by her own father. This has happened several times, and Emma always has a way to escape even though her own life is always at stake. Emma was tired, that's why she dared to take the decision to kill herself that night. Because Emma actually no longer wants to run away, if tomorrow or whenever it will still be sold again and again by her own father. Martin is crazy, Emma is tired of living and being enslaved by crazy people. "Emma," the old man's voice began to sound, Emma closed her eyes tightly, holding back the tears that could easily fall if she opened her eyes. "Listen, Emma," Martin started to hold one of Emma's hands which was free from the IV tube and gauze bandage. "Damian is a good person, he offered help to our family-" "Help for our family?" Emma interrupted, "He just paid off your gambling debts, Martin, and you call that a favor? Have you really lost your mind?" Emma chided in a voice that was starting to become hoarse because of her rapid breathing. "It's not like that," said Martin, still bowing his head. "So what?" Emma asked quickly. "You sold your own daughter like animals just to pay off your debts, why don't you just die so I can live in peace?" Emma's eyes started to become red and filled with tears but the angry look on the woman's face did not fade. "Do you think I like being sold here. Do you think I enjoy all the old men you set me up with so that your debt to them can also be paid off? Do you think I'm a doll that you can easily use just because I'm your flesh and blood?" Emma finished her words while struggling to hold back her sobs, her chest really hurt. After all, Emma was a child, her heart was devastated when she accepted the fact that she was sold to pay off a debt, so she had no self-worth. "But Damian is still young," Martin defended, the man's words made Emma feel even more tired. "He's no different," Emma hissed quickly interrupting him. "All of them it makes no difference, Martin. I'm tired of this, please get me out of all this, explain to the man that you yourself will pay off your debts without my interference." "Please," Emma begged in a trembling voice. "I can't, Emma." Martin said weakly, "I couldn't pay off my debts to him without you." "Why?!" Emma snapped. "Listen to me carefully, Emma," Martin said softly, "Damian is a good person-" Emma looked at Damian who was watching her and Martin after hearing Martin's words. Damian, good person? Can't Martin see that Damian looks like a bad guy? There was no trace of kindness at all on his face. "If he was a good person, he wouldn't have anything to do with you, Martin. You two are clearly bad people." "Damian offered to pay off my debts, then cover all your living expenses for the rest of your life, even though you only have to live with him for one year. Do you feel that's evil?" Martin asked. Emma was speechless, endured Emma's life for a lifetime, and only lived with her for one year? What does it mean. "Just one year until you give birth to a son for him. He only wants a baby from you, Emma. Just give it, our lives are guaranteed forever, your grandmother's life is also guaranteed." "Give birth to a son for Damian?" Emma repeated in a voice that was starting to get smaller, her head really dizzy for a moment after hearing that. Emma looked back at Damian who was now looking at Emma with sharp eyes. He heard everything Emma and Martin had said, about Emma who had apparently been sold to someone else, and about Emma who said that Damian was a bad person. Damian heard everything.
