Richard began to lose his patience. He finally snatched the cart from Jasmine's hands.
"Go home quickly! Don't be stubborn!" Richard said in a slightly piercing tone, staring at Jasmine. Jasmine looked at Richard with fear and nodded in agreement.
Since that incident, Richard had yet to see Jasmine during his night shifts. Previously, Richard had gone to meet Adrian and asked him not to intimidate the new girl. A few weeks later, Richard joined his friends for a gathering. Richard had a lot of free time because Jonathan and Vivi had been his mother's helpers.
One by one, his friends arrived with their partners. However, Richard seemed indifferent even though his friends started teasing him. Despite wanting to date, Richard needed more financial confidence to bring himself to do so. And then he met Louis, who had become his best friend.
Louis always tried to set Richard up with various girls, but it always failed because Richard kept finding ways to decline. This time, Louis begged him to meet a girl he assured Richard would like. After a short drama, Richard finally agreed to Louis' request. Richard thought there was no harm in accepting and starting to expand his social circle.
"Alright, but this is the last time, okay?" Richard emphasized.
"Of course. I'm sure you'll like her," Louis replied confidently.
Richard was curious because Louis had said he knew the girl beforehand. But, doubts still lingered as Richard thought Louis might just be teasing him. Louis arranged a meeting for Richard during his next week off. The day of the meeting arrived, and Louis sent the address of a popular restaurant. Richard felt nervous and asked Louis to accompany him.
"I'll go if you come with me," Richard wrote in his message.
Louis read it, smiled, and responded with a false promise. Louis planned to let Richard meet the girl alone, hoping his friend would find his match.
When Richard arrived at the designated location, he began searching for Louis. Thinking Louis hadn't arrived yet, he found a seat and ordered a cup of coffee while waiting. Richard started playing with his phone, waiting impatiently. After a while, someone approached him, and both were surprised simultaneously.
From the start, Jasmine was a bit shocked to see Richard again. She didn't expect to meet him unplanned. Richard and Jasmine exclaimed simultaneously when their eyes met. They stared at each other in disbelief. Richard couldn't believe he was meeting the stubborn girl who had annoyed him before. Jasmine didn't expect to see the know-it guy who Always meddled in others' affairs.
"What are you doing here?" Richard asked suspiciously, staring at Jasmine.
"What does it matter to you?" Jasmine responded, unwilling to give a reason.
She's right; it's none of my business, Richard thought. He then pulled back, letting Jasmine do her thing. Richard returned to his phone, trying to ignore Jasmine, while she found a seat next to Richard's table, playing with her phone. Richard was annoyed, thinking Louis was messing with him. Just as he was about to leave, Louis called.
Louis asked if Richard had met the girl named Jasmine. Richard was shocked to hear Jasmine's name from Louis.
"What? Jasmine?" Richard exclaimed in surprise. Jasmine turned toward Richard upon hearing her name.
"Yes, Jasmine," Louis replied over the phone.
"That girl is right in front of me now," Richard said, glancing at Jasmine sitting alone.
"Great, then go talk to her," Louis urged, before ending the call.
Reluctantly, Richard approached Jasmine. Though happy to see her again, he sensed she wasn't comfortable around him and wanted to avoid any conflict. His steps were heavy as he approached Jasmine, but he couldn't just leave her. Richard stood before her, and Jasmine looked at him in confusion.
What's with this guy? Does he want to interfere with my business again? Jasmine thought. Richard asked, holding the chair opposite Jasmine. "May I sit?" Jasmine replied curtly, her gaze urging Richard to leave. "For what? Aren't you waiting for someone? Why bother me?"
Feeling rejected, Richard withdrew again, sensing this was the third time Jasmine had turned him down. Richard took his phone and called Louis, putting it on a speaker and placing it on the table. Jasmine furrowed her brows, confused by Richard's actions.
"Hey Richard, how's it going? Have you met her?" Louis asked over the call. Jasmine found the voice familiar.
"Just tell me who you are and why you asked me to come here," Richard demanded.
"What do you mean? Of course, it's me, Louis. Has your brain malfunctioned from not dating?" Louis teased, making Richard embarrassed in front of Jasmine. Richard quickly ended the call.
Hearing Louis's name, Jasmine wondered if "Louis" Richard knew had the same "Louis" she knew. Initially annoyed with Richard, Jasmine stifled a laugh upon hearing Louis's tease.
"You heard him, right? I approached you not to bother you, but it was all planned by Louis," Richard clarified.
"Yes, I understand," Jasmine replied with a smile.
Seeing Jasmine smile made Richard's heart flutter, filling him with a happiness that was hard to describe. Jasmine began talking more with Richard, who started feeling comfortable around her. He realized Jasmin wasn't entirely rejecting him. Their conversation ended, and Jasmine prepared to take the bus home. However, Richard offered her a ride on his motorcycle. Initially, Jasmine declined, not wanting to trouble him. But since it was getting late, she accepted Richard's offer.
Richard was surprised to see Jasmine living in a penthouse, making him feel inferior, thinking she was a rich girl. Jasmine asked Richard to drop her at the gate. Richard followed Jasmine's wishes. At that moment, Richard wondered why she, who was a wealthy person's child, wanted to be taken on a motorcycle by him.
"Thank you," Jasmine said with a smile, looking at Richard. Richard was mesmerized by Jasmine's beauty and lost in thought until she patted his shoulder, snapping him out of it.
"Oh, you're welcome," Richard replied. Feeling small in front of Jasmine, he became self-conscious about his ordinary background, thinking she might prefer a well-off guy.
