Long Distance Relationship

A promise

Richard had successfully won Jasmine's heart. He made Jasmine change her mind rather quickly. Jasmine, who fell in love with him, was reluctant to part ways, so she canceled her departure. After staring at each other for quite some time, Jasmine ran into Richard's arms. At that moment, Richard confessed his feelings to Jasmine. Although their courtship was brief, it created a strong bond between them. Louis also shared in their happiness. He was delighted that his friend was now happy again.

Days passed quickly, further strengthening Richard and Jasmine's relationship. They had even introduced themselves to each other's families. Richard was quite close to Jasmine's grandmother. Jasmine's grandmother even spoke more often with Richard than with Jasmine. If Richard were busy and couldn't come, her grandmother would always ask Jasmine and request that she contact Richard. Her affection for Richard was so obvious that she wanted to make Richard her grandson-in-law.

On that bright morning, Richard was going to meet Jasmine. They had a day off on the same day. Richard wanted to surprise Jasmine so that he would take her somewhere. Jasmine was so happy and didn't ask much about where Richard was taking her. She couldn't wait for the surprise that Richard would give her.

With his motorcycle, Richard picked up Jasmine at her house. As usual, Richard first meets Jasmine's grandmother to ask permission and say goodbye. Jasmine was quite surprised to see Richard dressed relatively formally. In her mind, she thought Richard might propose to her. She even smiled, imagining Richard suddenly kneeling before her with a ring.

"Are you going to take me to a nice place?" Jasmine began to ask curiously.

"Um, but not as nice as the exhibition place we went to before," Richard answered enigmatically. Jasmin then smiled.

They arrived in front of a high-rise building. Jasmine began to feel confused. She saw no signs of a restaurant or café in the building.

Was I wrong in my assumption? Why did Richard bring me to a place like this? Jasmine began to murmur worriedly.

Jasmine thought Richard would take her to a company. She even believed that Richard might have just gotten a new job as an office worker. Jasmine tried to think positively, and her anxiety began to diminish. But when she arrived on the 23rd floor of the building, she saw a reception desk with the sign of a cruise ship agency behind it.

Jasmine was stunned. She looked at Richard as if asking why he had brought her there. Richard smiled. Jasmine couldn't speak. Disappointment suddenly washed over her. She tried to stay calm and smiled. She thought she would discuss it later after Richard finished whatever he had to do there.

Richard went into a room for an interview while Jasmine waited, playing with her phone. After a while, Richard finally finished. He displayed a satisfied smile at Jasmine.

"Is it done?" Jasmine asked as she saw Richard coming out of the room.

"Um, how about we have lunch first? Then we can watch a movie. What do you think?" Richard invited Jasmine to spend time together.

"No problem," Jasmine answered, though she looked unenthusiastic.

Seeing something different about Jasmine made Richard wonder. He worried that maybe Jasmine was tired or unwell, so he asked Jasmine again to make sure.

"Are you tired? You seem unenthusiastic," Richard asked while looking at Jasmine. Jasmine answered without looking at Richard's face. Richard grew more curious about what was happening to Jasmine.

During the ride, Jasmine usually talked a lot. But now, she was silent, making Richard even more anxious. When they arrived at the restaurant, Richard looked at Jasmine again. Jasmine continued to be busy with her phone.

"Are you sick, Jasmine?" Richard asked again. Jasmine just shook her head without speaking.

"Jasmine! What is really going on with you?" Richard raised his voice.

Jasmine remained silent, lowering her head. She tried to hold back her tears. The more she spoke, the more she wanted to cry. Richard reached out to lift Jasmine's face. Jasmin could no longer hold back her tears. Richard was shocked to see Jasmine's sad face.

"I'm going to lose you. Do you think I can be okay with that?" Jasmine said, tears streaming down her face, her words faltering.

"Lose me? What do you mean?" Richard looked at Jasmine, frowning.

Jasmine could no longer hold back her tears. She began to sob in Richard's embrace. Richard finally understood what Jasmine meant. But Richard had another thought. He felt he had a solution for everything. Richard let go of his embrace and looked at Jasmine again.

"Give me two years. I promise I will never forget you. And we can still keep in touch through video calls, right? Nowadays, everything is advanced, you don't need to worry," Richard said, trying to reassure Jasmine.

"What if I suddenly can't reach you? What should I do?" Jasmine asked, her face anxious.

Richard fell silent. He couldn't guarantee that something unpredictable wouldn't happen. Richard reassured Jasmine that the likelihood of such things was minimal. Jasmine still felt uncertain. She thought Richard would change his mind about leaving after seeing her condition. Seeing Richard's effort to reassure her made Jasmine unable to hold him back from going.

Jasmine tried to smile again. She realized she couldn't stop someone from pursuing their desires, especially concerning their personal life. Although she was now a part of Richard's life, she didn't want to put limitations on him. After the situation seemed to calm down, Richard invited Jasmine to go to the restaurant.

After eating, Richard offered to take Jasmine home, but Jasmine refused because she still wanted to spend more time together.

"Jasmine, it's already late. How am I going to explain to your grandmother later?" Richard said, worried. Hearing Richard's words made Jasmine gloomy again. In her mind, Jasmine thought Richard was right. She didn't want her grandmother to view Richard as a bad influence on her. Jasmine finally agreed to go home.

Richard felt he had hurt Jasmine. But this was a dream he had long wanted to fulfill. Richard even thought about taking their relationship to a more serious level. Richard felt that Jasmine was his last love. He was confident he could make his family and Jasmine happy.
