As Charlotte joined them in Tony’s bed, she seemed so small and uncertain to Simon that he felt a wave of tenderness for her. He put his arms around her and held her gently, feeling her body shivering with nerves. Tony was holding him equally lovingly, and in a flicker of revelation, Simon perceived that this unusual arrangement might work after all.
