The loud, shrill ringing of my alarm yanked me out of sleep, making my heart jump. I sat up so fast that I got lightheaded for a second. My phone screen lit up beside me, showing 11:00 PM in big, bold numbers. I reached over and silenced the alarm with a quick tap, rubbing my eyes with my other hand. That was when I heard raps on knock on the door. I froze, my hand still on my phone. My eyes flickered to the door.
