“You’ve got to jump, JUMP NOW!!”
I stood there frozen in fear, unaware of everything that was going on around me. “Almara, JUMP NOW!” Starsy screamed as she grabbed my arm and pulled me through the portal with her. I felt a wave of nausea hit me. I curled up into a ball hugging my stomach trying to make the feeling go away. I hit the ground making an oooff sound as the impact winded me.
“Are you okay? Here let me help you up.” Starsy said, moving me up off of the floor and helping me to the couch.
“Ugh, I’m alright but I’d love you a whole lot more if you had something to stop this nausea.” I said, still gagging from that whirlwind of a portal jump.
“Oh right, let me get you settled here on the couch and I’ll go and throw something together that’ll make you feel better.” Starsy called out as she walked into her kitchen.
“You know, you’re lucky that you only feel nauseous after going through a portal your first time, most people puke or pass out.” She laughed.
Starsy handed me a drink and I downed it in one and got all comfy, I started to feel a bit drowsy but that was a side affect of it. I closed my eyes and drifted off into what would hopefully be wonderful dreams…
I suppose I should start back from the beginning…
Hi there, my name is Almara Williams. I’m 17, almost 18. I have a lot of shifter friends. I grew up all over the place but one day I would love to be part of a pack. With that noted, I Guess I should tell you what makes me special. I’m a shifter, a hybrid at that. Part Wolf from my fathers’ side, where as my mother was part bear and part vampire. Which makes me one of a kind. Well, I am now anyways. We never stayed anywhere too long because my parents were afraid of what would happen to me if other shifters found out what I was. Just like in any world, there are good and bad shifters, good and bad humans too. But we didn’t have to worry about the humans. They didn’t hold anything to us. We were faster, stronger, had better sense of smell, better eyesight and better hearing.
My dad met my mum while out with friends. He was 24 and she was 22. The first time they locked eyes, “Mine.” Came from both of them, it seemed the world around them had just stopped and they couldn’t see anything apart from each other. From that moment on they were inseparable. Each and everything they did was done together and just made their lives better. They were married a year later, bought a house together then mum found out she was pregnant with my brother. Her and dad were so excited to be parents.
My brother was born on a beautiful snowy morning at 5:57am. He weighed 8 pounds 9ounces and had a head full of beautiful black curly hair. My father Owen was so proud of how well my mother Rayne had done. 3 years later I came along. A pigeon pair my parents use to say. It appeared that life couldn’t go any better. My 5th birthday was just around the corner and I couldn’t wait.
“Muuuuuummmm, have the birthday invites been sent out?” I yelled out.
“Yes sweetheart. I’ve also ordered the cake, got the decorations sorted and I’ve even gotten a pinata.” Mum replied. “Oh wow, YOU’RE THE BEST MUM!” I shouted as I ran into her crushing her with a hug.
“Haha good to know my little bug. Would you mind doing me a favour? Could you go and get your brother and tell him dinners ready?” Said mum. “I sure can.” I said happily as I skipped off to my brothers room to go and find him.
“Tallonnnnn, mum wanted me to tell you its dinner time.” I pushed his door open, but he wasn’t there. I shrugged my shoulders and went downstairs to see if he was out the back. I skipped down the hallway humming to myself. I finally reached the back door and swung it open with one small push. The door creaked open. “TALLON.” I yelled out, but I still didn’t get a reply. “ I start to panic.
“Mum, I cant find him anywhere.”
We start searching all through the house looking for him. There’s no trace of Tallon, so mum calls dad just as dad walks through the front door with Tallon, laughing and shoving each other playfully. “Owen, where was he? Where were the two of you? Is he okay?” Mum grabs a hold of Tallon and starts looking all over him for any cuts or bruises.
“Darling we’re fine, we went to the park and threw a ball around for a little father son time.” Dad replied.
“Oh thank goodness! You cant do that to me though, we couldn’t find him and didn’t know you had left. We were so close to calling the police Owen!!” Mum wiped the tears from her face and took a few deep breaths to calm herself down.
