Chapter 7
Author's POV
“No!!!” Lucien roared, collapsing to the floor and rolling in frustration like a child. “All my years of hard work…”
The door creaked open as Elara stepped in.
“What’s wrong? Is everything fine?” she asked.
Lucien didn’t respond. Bitterness and shock consumed his expression.
He struggled to his feet and staggered toward the door, but Elara blocked his path.
“Answer me!” she demanded.
Consumed by rage, he shoved her aside and ran out of the room. Elara fell hard to the ground, a sharp pain hitting her as she began to bleed.
Lucien, still in his pajamas, rushed out and when he arrived at his company, his company logo had been replaced, now bearing the bright emblem of a charity organization, with unfamiliar faces occupying the space.
Outside stood Anderson and Cooper, his assistant.
“How could you, Lucien? How are we supposed to pay the loan?” Anderson yelled, his voice laced with fury.
The loan Lucien had taken… had made the revenge effortless.
“No!” Lucien exclaimed, his voice cracking with desperation. “This was all set up by Liora!”
“What?” Anderson frowned, clearly confused.
“It was all a trap… I didn’t know what I signed,” Lucien admitted, running a hand through his hair in panic.
“Where is she now?” Anderson asked quickly.
“She’s gone. She left a message saying I’d never find her. I had no idea I signed divorce papers… and she discovered Bianca isn’t her child,” Lucien added, his voice dropping in defeat.
“You need to find a way to get your empire back,” Anderson urged firmly. “Where’s your phone?”
Lucien checked his pockets, his expression darkening. “I left it at home.”
Anderson immediately pulled out his own phone and dialed Lawyer Elliot’s number.
“I was deceived,” Lucien insisted as soon as they arrived. “Please, block the charity transfer.”
Elliot shook his head calmly. “I can’t do that. I witnessed the transfer myself, and it's already complete.”
“Why didn’t you tell me earlier? No! I'm taking this to court!” Lucien thundered.
“That's your right,” Elliot replied evenly. “But understand this, the judge is likely to reject your claim. You signed the documents willingly.”
Lucien staggered back and collapsed onto the floor, burying his face in his hands.
“I’ve destroyed myself…”
“What about buying the empire back?” Anderson suggested urgently.
Elliot let out a small sigh before responding. “The charity organization cannot sell the company back to him. The contract explicitly states that Lucien and any of his relatives are permanently barred from reclaiming ownership.”
The words hit Lucien like a bullet to the chest.
“This is bad,” Anderson muttered under his breath.
Just then, Anderson’s phone rang, caller ID: Elara.
“Where is Lucien?” Stephanie’s voice came through, laced with urgency.
“He’s here, but he’s busy. I’ll…”
“How dare he hit Elara? She’s in the hospital now! The doctor says they need a million dollars to save both her and the child!” Stephanie cut in sharply.
The words drained the strength out of Anderson. He slowly walked over to Lucien and handed him the phone.
Lucien took it silently, placing it to his ear.
“Lucien, we need one million dollars to save Elara and the baby…” Stephanie stated.
Without a word, Lucien ended the call.
“My life is over,” he muttered bitterly. “I’ve lost everything… my empire, my houses, my cars… everything.”
“This was all your idea!” Anderson suddenly snapped, rising from his seat in anger. Without another word, he stormed out.
“The loans… the investments… everything was gone.”
Lucien let out a broken laugh. “All for that stupid ‘Starile’ deal…”
His voice cracked. “I really destroyed myself…”
Tears slid down Lucien’s cheeks as he stood and walked out of Elliot’s office in silence.
At the hospital, Lucien arrived only to be met with devastating news: Elara had lost the baby.
She lay on the hospital bed, tears streaming down her face as her mother, Stephanie, tried to comfort her.
Lucien staggered back, his world collapsing piece by piece.
“I’ve lost everything…”
Meanwhile, Liora arrived at the airport.
As she stepped out, a vehicle door was already opened for her. Security personnel assisted with her luggage and escorted her into a convoy. Soon, they drove off, moving through the city until they arrived before a massive glass structure that towered into the sky.
The bold inscription on the building made her pause.
STARLIGHT ENTERPRISE GLOBAL HEADQUARTERS
The weak woman who once begged for love… was gone.
A faint smile curved her lips. “Now… let’s begin.”
