THE SECRET

Lucas stumbled out of his room, still trying to process the events of the previous night. He made his way to the kitchen, hoping to find some answers. His mom was already up, making breakfast. She looked up at Lucas with concern. "Hey, sweetie, you look a little rough. Are you okay?" she asked. Lucas hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. "I'm fine, Mom. Just didn't sleep well." His mom nodded, but Lucas could tell she didn't believe him. As they ate breakfast, Lucas couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. He kept thinking about the previous night, trying to remember every detail. And then, it hit him. A memory that had been lurking just beneath the surface. He remembered running through the forest, feeling the wind in his fur and the moonlight on his back. He remembered the thrill of the hunt, the rush of adrenaline as he chased after prey. But most of all, he remembered the feeling of freedom. The feeling of being untethered from the constraints of human society. Lucas's eyes widened as he realized the truth. He was a werewolf. Lucas couldn't believe what he had just remembered. He was a werewolf! He felt like his whole world had been turned upside down. He tried to process his emotions, but they were all over the place. He was scared, excited, and confused all at once. As he sat at the kitchen table, trying to make sense of everything, Lucas's mom came over and put a hand on his shoulder. "Lucas, is everything okay? You seem a little...off," she said. Lucas hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But something about his mom's kind eyes made him trust her. "Mom, I need to tell you something," he said, taking a deep breath. "What is it, sweetie?" she asked. Lucas looked around nervously, making sure they were alone. "I think I'm a werewolf," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. His mom's expression didn't change. She just nodded calmly. "I know, Lucas," she said. Lucas's eyes widened in shock. "You know?!" he exclaimed. His mom nodded again. "Yes, I know. Your father and I have been keeping it a secret for years," she said. Lucas felt like he had been punched in the gut. He couldn't believe his parents had been keeping this secret from him for so long. Lucas's mind was reeling with questions. "Why didn't you tell me? How did this happen? What does it mean?" he asked, his words tumbling out in a rush. His mom took a deep breath and sat down next to him. "Lucas, you're a descendant of a long line of werewolves. It's a genetic trait that's been passed down through our family for generations." Lucas's eyes widened in shock. "Generations? You mean, like, my grandparents and great-grandparents were werewolves too?" he asked. His mom nodded. "Yes, that's right. And we've been keeping it a secret to protect you and our family." Lucas felt like his whole world had been turned upside down. He had so many questions, but he didn't know where to start. "Why did you keep it a secret?" he asked, feeling a little hurt that his parents had kept this from him for so long. His mom put a hand on his arm. "We were trying to protect you, Lucas. We didn't want you to have to deal with the dangers and challenges that come with being a werewolf. But now that you're older, we think it's time you knew the truth." Lucas nodded, trying to process everything. He had so much to learn, and he wasn't sure where to start. But he was determined to understand his newfound identity and what it meant for his future. Lucas's mom smiled and handed him a small book. "This is a journal that's been passed down through our family for generations. It has all the information you need to know about being a werewolf." Lucas took the book, feeling a sense of excitement and trepidation. He opened it and began to read, devouring the pages filled with information about his condition. As he read, Lucas learned that he was a direct descendant of a powerful werewolf pack that had lived in the area centuries ago. He learned about the full moon transformations, the heightened senses, and the incredible strength and speed that came with being a werewolf. But he also learned about the dangers that came with his condition. The risk of exposure, the threat of hunters, and the constant struggle to maintain control over his transformations. Lucas felt overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information, but he was determined to learn as much as he could. He spent the rest of the day reading and studying, trying to absorb everything. As the sun began to set, Lucas's mom came into his room and sat down next to him. "How's it going?" she asked, smiling. Lucas closed the book and looked up at her. "It's a lot to take in," he said, feeling a little overwhelmed. His mom nodded. "I know it is. But you're strong, Lucas. You'll learn to control your transformations and live with your condition. And we'll be here to support you every step of the way." Lucas smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude towards his mom. He knew that he still had a lot to learn, but with her support, he felt like he could face anything.
