I let out a series of huffs as I rapidly hit the punching bag. With every hit from my fists, a surge of adrenaline and raw fury washed through me.
Four months had passed since I had been placed with the new title, or better yet, the new burden of the lost Alpha. It was still strange to me. I never would have thought in a million years that fate would have bestowed that kind of responsibility on me. But the discovery didn't hurt as much as the loss of my best friend. The trauma I faced afterwards, coupled with the lack of recent appearances from Sylvian, was almost enough to drive me insane. I had tried to live life and move on like everything was fine, but I knew it was all futile. I was lying to myself.
Cedric was gone. There would be no more friendly taunts, teasing, or banter
