Practice today means dealing with a pissed off Melody and a confused best friend who keeps trying to pry me for answers about my mood swings. Oh, and did I mention that getting the lead didn’t necessarily mean things would suddenly get easier for me. Ines has been harder on me than she has ever been. There’s this tough part of the performance that involves spinning around on my toes numerous times. It also means prancing by Melody’s line of dancers, the girls who portray my mermaid mates, the ballerinas who usually dance behind me.
