Chapter Thirteen Ian shaded his eyes against the glare of the setting sun as he viewed the steel beams and scaffolding rising seven stories high. The skeleton of the hospital was already in place. Satisfaction flowed through his veins knowing the foundation was strong enough to withstand the next tremor that hit. Yep, this building would be around a hundred years from now, of that he was certain. A hell of a lot longer than he would be. Even longer than Paige, he soberly mused, realizing how brief everything in life—especially life itself—truly was.
