The banquet in the great hall had come to an end. Cassian walked toward the bridal chamber on unsteady legs. He had barely touched his wine all evening. All he wanted was to get back to Audrey with a clear head. He pushed the door open and strode toward the bride sitting at the edge of the bed. He couldn't wait any longer. He reached out and lifted her veil. A handmaid stepped forward. "Sir, the lady prepared a sobering remedy for you." Cassian hesitated.
