Chapter three: Victor Kane

1152 Words
While the guy was on the ground, Abby scanned the area where they were. No cameras. Good. When the guy tried to approach her again, she struck first. She kicked the hand holding the knife. Instantly, the man crashed back to the ground. While he lay there, he stared at Abby with cold, hateful eyes. Abby gave the man time to stand up. She kicked the knife toward him. The man growled in frustration as he picked it up. “You fvcking b***h!!” He charged at her again. But Abby avoided his attacks without effort. The man kept swinging the knife wildly, his movements sloppy and desperate. Confusion spread across his face. He couldn’t believe how easily Abby dodged every strike. “Put your hands in the air!” Aaron’s voice echoed from a distance. “Where are you looking?” The man attacked again. Abby’s eyes hardened. Her senses sharpened. And in an instant—the knife slipped from the man’s hand and hit the floor. “Ahh! Fvck!! Ouch!” A loud scream echoed throughout the supermarket. The man collapsed, clutching his hand. His middle and index fingers were broken. “Holy s**t! What the heck!” Tears streamed down his face as his companion shouted in panic. The man screamed in pain, unable to process what Abby had done to him. Abby gave him one last glance before turning away. She immediately moved toward where she had heard Aaron’s voice earlier. She found Aaron hiding behind cover, gripping a gun tightly. Abby watched him from the corner, her eyes drifting to his trembling hands. He was shaking while holding the gun. Is he really a police officer? Disappointment flickered in Abby’s eyes. She scanned the surroundings—three men. One holding a gun on the right, one guarding the door, and one already down on the floor. She pulled out the knife she had taken earlier. Abby waited, watching carefully. She just needed to give Aaron an opening. Her eyes sharpened. Her gaze locked onto the Glock 19 in the man’s hand. A powerful weapon. Reliable. Dangerous. But the way he held it exposed him. His grip was too tight. Too cautious. He wasn’t trained—just dangerous enough to kill. She glanced back at Aaron’s position. One opening was all he needed. He should be able to take down the other two. Abby positioned her arm, aiming precisely at the hand holding the gun. She waited. “I’m giving you a warning once again!” Aaron shouted. The man snapped. “Shut up! Motherf—” He fired toward Aaron. That was the opening Abby was waiting for. In a blink of an eye, she struck. The knife buried itself in the man’s hand. The gun dropped to the floor as he screamed. “Fvck!” He collapsed, blood pouring out as he clutched his hand. “Hey! What happened to you?” The second man rushed over—and saw Abby. He grabbed the gun from the ground and fired at her. Abby moved fast, taking cover. Gunshots rang out one after another. Moments later, both men were on the ground. Blood stained the supermarket floor. People screamed and ran when they saw the bodies. Abby glanced back once more at the first man—the one with broken fingers—still crying on the floor. Seconds later, Aaron’s voice echoed again through the supermarket. Abby slipped into hiding, making sure Aaron wouldn’t suspect her. She sat inside Aaron’s car later, watching as ambulances took the three men away. The man with broken fingers screamed until his voice almost gave out. “That girl is evil! Arrest her too!” The police ignored him. Abby stayed silent in the car. Because of the chaos, she hadn’t even finished her grocery shopping. Minutes later, Aaron approached the car. She kept her eyes on the window as he got in. I just want to go home already, Abby thought. “Are you okay? Are you sure you’re fine?” Aaron asked. Abby waved her hand, signaling him to drive. She didn’t wait long before getting out of the car. Aaron didn’t follow—he said he had another case to handle. Something about the gala incident last night. Abby walked away like she didn’t care. When she reached her room, she locked the door, closed the windows, and walked toward the bookshelf. She pulled out one book. The shelf slid open. A hidden room revealed itself. Inside, Abby no longer existed. Nyx stepped in. The room was filled with weapons—guns of different kinds, gadgets, tools. She picked up a gun and a hairpin. “I should be ready for the next mission.” She sat in front of the computer and opened the special contract she hadn’t fully checked last night. Victor Kane. She already had limited information about him—private, heavily guarded. Expected for the son of a mafia family. This target was different. She opened a private message on the dark web, where she gathered information on powerful targets. “Victor Kane,” she typed. “Victor Kane? Are you sure about that?” Even the anonymous contact sounded shocked. “I need everything you can get on him,” Nyx replied. She stood and walked toward a shelf filled with phones—different models, different identities. She picked one and connected it to the computer. She activated a voice changer. The call was secured. VPN active. “I need a new sniper,” she said, her voice hollow and distorted. She sent the details. The day becomes night. She was stopped immediately by security outside. She looked behind her and saw a man stepping out of a luxurious car. She waited. When he started walking with his security, she pretended to get bumped by them. The security was aggressive, but for Nyx, that was good. The man looked at her when she fell. He was about to walk away, but when he saw Nyx’s sexy outfit and beautiful face, he stopped. Nyx held her elbow, pretending to be hurt and unable to stand. She suddenly saw a veined hand in front of her. She slowly accepted it and stood up. The man smiled at her. “Are you okay, miss?” the man asked. Nyx smiled softly, making herself look gentle. “Yes, sorry for causing trouble,” Nyx said as she bowed. The man laughed. “Are you going inside?” he asked. Nyx raised her head and looked at him, smiling as if she was very used to that kind of smile. “Yes, but it’s hard to get inside. The security is very strict,” Nyx said. The man smirked. “Come.” He pulled Nyx beside him and held her waist as they entered the club. The innocent look Nyx had earlier disappeared, replaced by a serious expression.
