Nyx stepped inside the club. The place was crowded, loud, and full of smoke. For a moment, she almost forgot herself—until someone suddenly whispered in her ear.
“You come with me.”
Nyx smiled and nodded. The man gently pulled her toward a private room. It wasn’t the same area she had seen earlier. This one had security standing outside.
As they approached, the guards immediately opened the door. The moment Nyx stepped inside, she saw a familiar face. Her eyes turned serious when she saw the man in front of her, sitting confidently with two women beside him.
“Victor! How are you?” the man beside him shouted.
A man who was sitting with two girls beside him. Nyx quickly changed her expression, putting on the soft and innocent look she had used earlier.
The man just raised his glass to greet the man. Victor’s eyes briefly landed on Nyx. She returned his gaze with a small smile.
“What a sexy girl you have there, Sean,” the other man on her right side.
Sean sat down on the empty couch. Nyx pretended she didn’t know what to do. Sean tapped the seat beside him—a clear signal for her to sit. She walked slowly and sat beside him, acting shy and harmless.
As she sat, Nyx quietly observed the men inside the room.
She memorized every face. Every detail. Any of them could become a target.
Each man came from a powerful and influential family.
She looked at the man in front of her—Governor Alson, from the Sebastian family. Then her gaze shifted to another—CEO Jonathan, whose family owned one of the most famous hotels in the world. She just got all the details on them. For future purposes.
She suddenly froze when she felt a hand wrap around her waist. There was desire in the grip. Nyx only smiled at the man beside her.
Sean—Victor’s cousin. His family owned a sports car company. But behind the clean image, his family secretly ran a global drug operation.
“You should introduce the girl you brought, Sean,” Alson said.
Sean straightened and tightened his hold on Nyx’s waist, pulling her closer.
“Oh… about that,” Sean said, looking at Nyx. They hadn’t been introduced yet. He gave her a meaningful look, telling her to speak for herself.
Nyx stood up. The coldness in her eyes disappeared, replaced by a gentle smile. She looked like a completely different person.
“I’m Abby. I'm just a nobody and I just met Sean outside,” she said softly. The people in the room quiet.
"We know it. But, you're sexier than the girls in this club," Alson said. He always looks at Nyx with desire.
Before she could sit down,
His voice was low and calm, but powerful.
“What family did you come from?”
Nyx paused.
She smiled. “I don’t have a family.”
The room went silent. It wasn’t the answer they expected.
“My family died when I was ten years old,” Nyx added, still smiling.
She felt no change in the atmosphere. No pity. No shock. It was clear—they were used to stories like this.
“Really? So where are you living now?” Sean asked.
“With my aunt,” she answered.
Sean handed her a glass of wine. Every move Nyx made was calculated. After two glasses, she excused herself, saying she needed to use the bathroom.
She stood up.
As she walked away, she noticed Alson also standing.
Expected, she thought.
Nyx entered the bathroom. With her sharp instincts, she already knew someone had followed her.
She pretended to be surprised when Alson suddenly pushed her against the wall. Without warning, he kissed her neck aggressively. One of his hands moved lower, gripping her with hunger.
Even though she expected this, her body still reacted.
This is part of the job, she reminded herself.
Suddenly, the door opened.
They both looked up.
A man stood by the sink, calmly washing his hands as if nothing was happening behind him.
It was Victor.
Alson quickly fixed his pants.
“Nice to meet you, Abby. Let’s get to know each other next time,” Alson said before leaving the bathroom.
Nyx’s clothes were disheveled, her bra slightly visible. She slowly walked toward Victor.
I should make a little show here, she thought.
She touched Victor’s back seductively.
What happened next wasn’t part of the plan.
Victor suddenly pushed her against the wall and kissed her.
This kiss was different from Alson’s. It was deep, consuming—almost overwhelming. Nyx felt her knees weaken.
This wasn’t planned. That was what scared her most.
“I—I can’t breathe,” she tried to say, pushing against him, but her strength failed her.
“Ugh…” Nyx moaned when Victor bit her neck.
When he finally pulled away, Nyx slid down to the floor, her body weak, her breath uneven.
Victor walked away as if nothing had happened. Wiping his hand with a tissue.
Nyx stayed there, only now fully processing what had just happened. She didn't expect that... She thought that he could manipulate Victor just like what she just did on Alson earlier.
"He's really different," she said while putting the hairpin in her hair.
