Kelly’s POV The elevator doors slid open and I stepped in with my coffee still too hot to drink. I held it by the lid and watched the floor numbers light up one after the other as the cabin filled with the quiet hum of people pretending they weren't bothered even if it was Monday morning at the office. A woman stood beside me, and I saw her typing an email on her phone with one thumb while balancing her briefcase under her left arm, and then there were the two men in suits arguing softly about a deadline like the day was already slipping away from them.
