Kelly's POV By the time I got home, the day still hadn’t settled into a quiet night, people were still outside moving about and having fun. I closed the door behind me and leaned against it, listening to the quiet hum of the apartment. Everything was where it should be, my bed was neatly made. The lamp by the window still tilted slightly from when I’d bumped into it the night before. It was all familiar, safe and ordinary, but none of it matched how I felt. I kicked off my shoes and crossed the room, sitting on the edge of the bed without turning on the lights. The glow from the street outside filtered in, soft and gray, catching on the frame of my mirror. I looked tired, more than tired, I was worn thin, like I’d spent the day bracing against something heavy without ever seeing it
