There was something strange about the clearing. He wondered why he felt so cold. Even with winter approaching, the sudden chill seemed out of season. Gambler walked beside him as he approached the pond. The trees surrounding the clearing still held their summer green. Unable to detect the reason for the eerie sensation, Jaron peered into the water. His reflection stared back at him. Beside him stood Gambler and yet, not Gambler. Where Gambler’s reflection should have been was a unicorn. The unicorn was a proud stallion with a primrose coat. Its mane, tail, muzzle, beard and legs were pure white and glowed with moonlight.
