I was awakened by the strong smell of disinfectant. When I came to, I was alone in the hospital room, my throat feeling extremely dry.
I struggled for a while before pressing the call button. The doctor arrived quickly, wearing the white coat that was specially assigned to the Lane family.
"Doctor, how did I end up here?"
The doctor sighed. "You fainted in your room. The Lanes brought you here."
I was a bit surprised, propping myself up on the bed, with a trace of unintentional hope in my voice. "Then... where are my parents?"
