He started walking toward me slowly and with purpose. The bond burned in my chest, but worse was the unbearable awareness of him. The air itself seemed to shift around him, dragging me closer even as I wanted to run far away.
“Let me see your face, little beauty. ” he said, the voice was husky and filled with command.
“Not here,” I whispered, my voice trembling with fear. “Let’s go somewhere more private.”
He raised a brow but said nothing and just nodded his head in acknowledgment. The heat of the bond between us throbbed stronger with every passing second, and even though my legs felt weak, I followed him.
We entered into one of the quieter rooms of the house. The music and laughter outside dulled as he shut the door. He stopped in front of me, and the silence between us became so suffocating.
“Remove your mask right now,” he said slowly.
My fingers trembled as I reached up. Slowly, carefully, I lifted the mask away, the colored ties slipping through my hands until it hit the floor with a soft thud.
My face was exposed, vulnerable, and I could feel the intensity of his gaze burn across every inch of me.
His reaction was immediate. His eyes widened, then narrowed, and his lips pressed into a tight line. “It’s you,” he breathed, a hiss of disbelief and anger all tangled together. “No… no, it can’t be you. Of all people…”
Anger twisted his features. “No… no, no…” he muttered again, pacing, fists clenching like he could strangle the bond into submission. Sweat beaded along his temple, his breathing was also jagged.
“I didn’t want this, but maybe it’s what the goddess wants,” I whispered, though the words were hardly coming out. My body shook with the force of it, my nerves sparking like live wires.
His steps slowed, his gaze locking on me. “It can never be you,” he growled, rough and hoarse, his voice vibrating with need he could barely control.
“Stop sounding like I planned for it to be you either ,” I shot back, anger spiking even as my skin trembled with fevered heat.
He closed the distance, stopping only inches away. “I hate you so much, but the only thing that’s on my mind is how much I want you, I know it’s the mate bond speaking and I feel so disgusted, because I know that I don’t really want you. ” he said with a half growl.
“I don’t want you either.” I breathed deeply, though my body betrayed me with a shiver that shot straight down my spine.
His jaw clenched. He dragged a hand through his hair, muttering a curse under his breath. “Damn it. Of all people…”
The fire between us didn’t ease. It built, higher, hotter, until it was unbearable. My chest rose and fell too fast, my thoughts unraveling.
“I… I’m leaving,” I whispered, trying to convince myself as much as him. My body screamed for escape, but every step toward the door felt impossible.
Before I could move, his hand grabbed mine. My heart jolted.
“No.” His voice was a growl, final, before his mouth crashed onto mine.
The kiss was fire, it was fierce, consuming, a demand I had no strength to refuse. Shock froze me for a heartbeat, but then the heat surged, drowning everything else.
His hands gripped my waist, pulling me closer. A moan escaped my lips, as much from my own efforts as his, as he held me every more tightly .
He brushed a strand of hair from my face and kissed my arm and shoulder softly.
His hands moved gently along my thighs, his touch sending shivers through me. He kissed me again, lingering, his warmth and closeness making my heart race. I felt him undo my gown, his gaze steady and full of emotion.
He carried me to the bed, still dressed, and I clumsily reached for his buttons.
He laughed quietly. “You’re so clumsy,” he teased, his tone still controlling
I silenced him with a kiss. My hands moved over him as his fingers brushed against my skin, drawing a soft sound from me. The intensity of it all overwhelmed me, my emotions surging until I whispered, almost pleading, “Please… I can’t take it anymore.”
My wolf wanted it so badly. I didn’t know when the words came out. “Please, help me..”
He took control immediately, guiding me gently as he moved closer.
“Lucien…” I breathed, barely able to form the word. Anger, fear, and burning need warred inside me, twisting tighter with every heartbeat.
The marking had bound us, tethering us with invisible fire that dragged me closer, daring me to surrender.
He kissed me repeatedly, and made me moan involuntarily and, somehow, he still made me lose my rhythm of pushing back against him.
My arms grew weak, and my defiance collapsed, I gripped the sheet trying to resist a little.
“Don’t fight it,” he rasped against my skin, his voice low and rough…
