"Come in," Visaris' voice called from inside.
I pushed open the door slowly, stepping inside with hesitant steps. Visaris' gaze was sharper than usual, his piercing green eyes scrutinizing me as if he already knew something was wrong. The intensity of his stare sent a shiver down my spine, and my palms grew clammy with nerves.
"Have a seat," he commanded, his tone unreadable as he gestured to the chair in front of him.
I sat down, feeling the weight of the silence between us. He didn’t look away from his paperwork, but I could feel his attention focused entirely on me.
"What was it you wanted to tell me when we ran into each other earlier?" Visaris asked, his voice calm yet commanding.
I froze, my mind scrambling for a response.
