Roisin The shadows in the room twisted and contorted, becoming elongated, monstrous. The hum turned into a deafening roar, drowning out the screams until they were nothing but a distant echo. I tried to focus on what was happening, to understand the horror unfolding before me, but the details slipped through my fingers like water. The figure’s hands moved furiously, tearing at something or someone hidden within the shadows, but it was all a blur, impossible to make out. The blood spread faster now, racing toward my feet, and when it touched me, it was ice-cold, freezing me in place.
