Chapter 3

917 Words
"Hey, Anna. You can drive, after all you did, help me fix her up." I tossed her my keys as we headed to the car. She catches them out of the air with ease. "You know I love you, right?" She says as she hops in the car. "Yeah, I know. I love you, too." We both giggle as she starts the car. Anna drives us to the gas station for a sugar run. Once we have our goodies, we hop back in and head for the hidden water fall. Only the locals know the way, and it's a bit of a hike, but that just allows us more time to hang out and relax. "You ready for this?" I asked. "No, but let's do it." She says. We pulled up outside the old County Cemetery, and parked the car. We both hop out and place our goodies in our backpacks before heading for the game trail. Now, if you didn't know what to look for, you would miss it, but it isn't long before it comes into view. Anna and I turned and headed into the trees. Once inside, it seems like a different world. The trees and plants are a sight to see as they fight for the sunlight, and the animals are always mesmerizing. Birds call as squirrels run in the trees, and the light show from the sun streaming through the foliage is something else. After about a fifteen minute walk, the trail widens enough for us to walk side by side. We both walked on in silence for another five minutes or so before Anna broke the silence. "I don't want to go to college alone. We made a plan, to leave and do something with our lives. I know Michael is angry, but I don't know how to help him." Anna says sadly. Michael, Anna, and I were raised together. I don't just see her as my best friend, more like a sister I never had. I know Anna has been suspicious of me lately and I don't want her to know what happened between him and me. "Yeah, I can understand him being angry. My dad told me I'm staying here and that's final. I think I'm going to go anyway. You'd help me, right?" "Well, what's the plan? You know I'll help you anyway I can." She puts her arm around me and gives me a squeeze as we keep walking. "Well, orientation is in two months, so when we need to head to school. I'm going to tell my dad I'm just going to drive you there and then come back. When I'm really just going to go through with my plan for college." "Well, I can work with that. What about Michael? Our dad would definitely show up and drag him back, kicking and screaming." Anna states. "I'm not sure yet, but I'm going to think about how we can help him too." Michael and I have always been around each other. I noticed the slight changes from boy to young man, and that my feelings had started to change towards him. I tried to ignore them and even went on dates. Most of them were either too afraid of my father and his friends, or they wanted to get in the club. They thought that their way in was through me. Though I had nothing to do with that, once they found out well, then they thought they could have me. I have never been with anyone, I'm still an 18-year-old virgin. The only one who knows this is Anna. I couldn't do anything about the rumors and just because you are the MC "princess" means there's a reputation for that. I say screw you to anyone who believes them. I am not and will never be a club wh*re. Anna doesn't know that my first and only kiss was with Michael, and that changed everything between us. We were working on my car a month or so back. We were under the hood. I was holding the light so he could see what he was doing. He shifted, which made me need to reposition the light, which brought us flush against each other. My left arm was out in front of me holding the light, and I was using my right hand to balance along the edge of the raised hood. My breasts and lower stomach were against his left side, and when he moved to the left to readjust or move his left arm, it felt like an electric shock ran through me. But not in a bad way. There was a part of me that was drawn to it, it confused me and I didn't know what to think. I stayed where I was though, there were a few times I heard him take a deep breath and it threw me a little. At the end, he started to back out and his left arm grazed my stomach and I froze. His left hand found my waist on my right side, and he turned under my right arm, bringing his face even with mine. I didn't move, I just stood there staring into his soul-searching eyes. I never noticed how green they were before. It felt as if he was looking into my very soul. He moved slightly and I lowered my right arm, wrapping it around his neck. He moved the rest of the way then and brought his lips to mine.
