I almost flinched with the tone he was using. Someone like him would not take simple, dumb excuses. Out of all the days he could have gone back, he chose today. The timing is just diabolical.
“He’s currently out,” Avery managed to respond, but didn’t sound believable at all. He couldn’t even look at the old alpha as he spouted excuses.
