"NATALIE WAKE UP!!!!" I jump, because of the loud noise, and end up falling out of my bed.
"What time is it?" I mumble to my mom. Barely keeping my eyes open, now that she stopped screaming.
"It's 7 o'clock. Time to get ready for the day. Get dressed and do your hair so I can give you your tour of California." My mom gives me another one of her smiles, but I don't return it.
I mean who wakes someone up at 7 o'clock in the freaking morning? NOBODY! I groan and close my eyes for a few seconds. I get up, and get my clothes for today. Last night I chose a pretty flowery dress that goes to my knees, and some pink heels that match with the flowers on my dress. I put my hair up in a messy bun, and grab my sunglasses after putting on my contacts. I quickly grab my purse off of the hook hanging near the door, and run downstairs to meet up with my mom outside. Just as I'm about to close the front door, mom yells at me.
"Hey! Natalie! Hurry up!" I yelp, and jump in the air a few inches. I sigh and close the door, causing it to lock. I run over to the car, and head over to the passengers seat up front.
"So, since it's still really early, do you want to head over to Starbucks and get some breakfast?" She gives me a big smile, and waits for my answer.
"Sure. Maybe this time I can actually finish my drink." I give her a fake smile, and hope she understood what I was talking about. Cause the last time I went to that Starbucks I wasn't able to finish my drink. She smiles back at me, and laughs.
"We'll see." She starts the car, and we start driving towards the town.
"Hey, why do you live so far away from everything? Like why pick a house in the middle of the forest?" She hesitates, before giving me a smile that doesn't reach her eyes.
"I have always loved the view, and when I saw that the house was available, well I couldn't say no to it. Not only that but it's also really quiet, unlike the town. And it's only 10 minuets away from the town, so it's not that far away." I don't believe her, but I let it go. If she doesn't want to tell me, that's fine. I'm not going to make her tell me. At least not yet. Before I can ask her anything else, I see the beach. I gasp, and point my whole body towards the water.
"Oh! You haven't been to a beach yet have you? I almost forgot! Well After lunch, and the tour, maybe we could go for a little swim if you want?" I quickly nod my head, without looking away from the beautiful waves.
I quickly grab my phone, and try and take a picture. Just as I find the perfect angle for the picture, a building covers my view of the water. I slowly frown, and sigh. Well there goes that photo. I'll just have to get one when we go for a swim later. I put my phone back in my purse, and look at the buildings that we pass by. I see a few random shops with clothing for sale, and some with food showing in the glass windows. My mouth begins to water just thinking about food. Just as I'm about to ask how much farther until we get to Starbucks, the car stops.
"We're here!" Before mom can say anything else I'm practically jumping out of the car, and run for the door. I also slam into the glass doors, but luckily, I grab the handles before I run into them. I speed walk over to the line, and wait for my turn to order. By the time I get to the front, mom just barely walks through the door. She walks up to me, and waits while I finish my order.
"Hi. I would like a frozen Carmel Macchiato with whip cream, and a blue berry muffin please." I give the cashier a shy smile. Hey don't judge me. I'm really shy when it comes to new people. It took me a while for me to even get used to my old next door neighbors that I lived next to for like 4 years. Just as I'm about to pay, mom stops in, and pulls the card away.
"I've got the bill honey, why don't you go and find a table for us to sit at. Maybe one over in the corner next to the window?" She smiles, and turns toward the cashier. I walk towards the table she was talking about earlier, and take a seat at it. I look around inside the shop for a few minutes, before looking out the window. I see a few people walking around on the sidewalk, and a few cars driving around. I grab out my phone and go on Pinterest.
"Here you go." I look up from my phone, and see my mom handing me my muffin and drink. I give her a shy smile, and take it. She quickly sits down and starts looking around nervously.
"Hey, you okay mom? You look a little jumpy." She quickly turns towards me, and gives me a smile that again doesn't reach her eyes.
"Everything's fine, I just don't really like coming here sometimes. It gets too crowded for my taste." That's odd. My mom is the most social person I know. The total opposite of me. Instead of asking her why, because I'm too scared too, I give her a my fake smile that always works.
"Oh, well then let me finish this up real quickly and then we can leave, cause I don't really like crowds either." She looks relieved, and lets out a quiet sigh. I look out the window while I take a big bite of my muffin, and almost choke on it. On the other side of the glass, is a girl that looks around my age making a retarded face, that looks like she's a happy seal.
"Oh! Honey are you alright! Oh hey Wendie." My mom waves to the girl, who's name I guess is Wendie. Wendie comes inside Starbucks and practically runs over to our table.
"Oh my goshness! Miss Christine, I didn't know Natalie was going to come this quickly. I thought she was coming next week! I would have bought a cake." She tells my mom, and quickly turns to me.
"Oh I was so excited to finally meet you! Your mom told me all about you, and I couldn't wait to meet you!" She gives me a huge smile, and grabs me for a hug. She hugs me for what feels like 10 minutes, and lets go of me quickly.
"Oh my goshness! How rude of me. I forgot to introduce myself! Hi! My names Wendie Waters. I'm like the closest person living next you. So like your neighbor, but because of where we live, we're so far away from eachother that it feels like a really long walk but it isn't!" I barely catch what she's saying because she's talking so fast. Oh god. She's talking so fast it's almost like another language. I give her a nervous smile and go stiff.
"Oops. Sorry, I could talks for days without taking a breathe. I'm working on it though." She takes a few steps back and gives me some space. I let out a sigh, and give her a shy smile.
"H-hello. I-It's nice to meet y-you." I try acting normal, but end up stuttering. Dang it! Stupid shyness!
"Awwww! You're so cute!" She tries grabbing me in for another hug when someone grabs her shirt pulling her back, and away from me.
"Jeeze Wendie give her some space! Don't scare her, I still have to show her around town, and then take her to the beach." Luckily the person to save me from another death grip hug, was none other than my own mother. I give a quick sign, and take few more steps back just in case.
"Now why don't we just head out, and you can finish your drink in the car, while I show you around town. How does that sound? Good? Good. Now let's just be on our way then." Before I can even get a word in, my mom moves away from Wendie, and starts to push me towards to door.
"W-wait, I have to throw away the trash that I have!" I move away from her hands and take my drink and the trash from my muffin with me towards the trashcan.
Just as I throw the trash away, I quickly turn around, and bump into a rock wall. At least I though it was a wall until arms grabbed me before I fell. When the arms grab me, I feel a slight electric shock that feel like fireworks, that starts to spreading all over my body. I jump away from the person, and take a few steps back. Doing so gives me more room to actually take in the person I ran into. He is at least 6'4, with a beautiful face that looks godlike. And don't even get me started on his body. He looks like he works out everyday, and it worked out for him. When I look at his white shirt, I see a huge coffee spill. I gasp and run towards him.
"Oh my god! I am so sorry!" I grab some tissues near the trash, and begin to try and wipe some of it off.
As I do so, I feel the electric shocks again, and stop. I look up to his face, since he practically towers over my 5'7 body. His facial expression is one of humor, and surprise. And something else I cannot detect. Curiosity? Disbelief? Just as I'm about to say something, my shyness kicks in. I quickly look down at my feet, and speed walk over to my mom. Luckily my mom didn't see anything, and we walk out of Starbucks. What just happened? When we start driving again, I look out the window, and see the guy still looking at me through the window inside Starbucks with a small smirk on his face. Oh god. I'm in for it now. Just as I thought that I was going to not embarrass myself. I was wrong.
