The day after Thomas left, Matthew headed to Torht’s holding to see how the bone carver and his wife fared. He hadn’t seen them since Torht was taken for the Ordeal. And he wanted to see if they or the horses had sensed the Hound.
He strode down the road, lost in thought, when a voice in his mind stopped him in his tracks. I am here. Come alone.
