The day after the burial, Thomas slept, succumbing to the fog of exhaustion that swamped him. He had reached the end of his limits. If he didn’t rest, he would be of no use to anyone.
The next day, however, he woke with a burning purpose in his mind: it was time to set out for Eoforwic. He was not completely foolish, however. He knew facing Wulfram was dangerous. So while Celyn went to the king’s fortress to continue his training of Oswy’s war band he made some preparations of his own, putting into motion a plan that he hoped would help tip the scales in his favour.
