After All This Time
February 26, AD 643, Theobald's holding
Despite the fear that haunted him, the ride to Theobald’s holding was uneventful. They stopped a couple of times to search for the Hound. Thomas swallowed down his fears and practised using his Fey senses to help his father seek for the beast. Thankfully, he did not catch any sense of the Alder King’s regard when he did so, but neither did he feel the Hound’s presence.
Matthew, too, had no luck. Thankfully.
After a couple of hours, they saw smoke rising lazily above a hill just ahead, the mark of the holding. Matthew drew up his horse, and Thomas did the same. They paused, seeking a sense of the Hound once again.
“Anything?” Thomas asked after a moment.
Matthew shook his head, frowning. “No.”
