When he arrived at an administrative area outside the holding rooms, he spent some time reviewing the informant’s background and history. His name was James Walters. As Danny read the arresting officer’s report, he learned that Walters had always been a reliable source in helping the department understand the organized crime groups that moved in and out of the area. But he’d gone dark in recent weeks. Then he’d been picked up overnight by an arresting patrol officer on a breaking-and-entering charge.
The attending guard buzzed Danny through, and he entered the interrogation room.
“So, it says James here, but you look more like a Jimmy to me. What’s your story, pal?” Danny said.
His sudden entrance had briefly startled Jimmy, who was sitting behind a metal desk in the center of the room.
