Chapter 13

627 Words
Cal POV   Initially, when I left, my heart and Demon were very bummed out. I thought it was going to be a very intense two weeks. I tried to keep myself slammed in work and training making it hard for me to miss Kenzi, but I learned it was impossible. By the time we arrived back to my back, I had already messaged her twice. I was like a love-sick puppy.   She didn’t seem to mind and text me just as much. We go into a routine of text in the morning when we woke up, mid-day, and at bedtime. Just being able to talk to her was enough to put me and Demon and peace.   Well, I made it through the two weeks, because today is the day she arrives. I never thought I would be so nervous. I kept telling myself that I needed to grow a pair because I felt so dependent on her. I hope when I actually see her I will calm down.   I roll over in my king-size bed that I am sprawled out over. I can’t wait until tonight when I hope to have Kenzi under me. But until then, I must get up and prepare for the day.   I roll over to the edge of the bed and walk over to the bathroom. I underdress and climb under the rainfall showerhead and allow it to run down my aching body.   In the last two weeks, we have had three rogue attacks and have not been able to catch one alive. They fight to the death to ensure they are not taken alive to share information about their leader. My goal when Kenzi arrives is to tell her about the rogues and prepare a plan to catch one alive so that we can interrogate them.   ‘Hey, I need you to get out to the training field. Emilio is at it again’ Gio comes through my mind link.   “s**t!” I say to myself. Since we have returned from Blood Shadow Pack, Emilio has been off his game. He has been aggressive and fighting anyone and everyone who looks at him wrong. It was at one point when we had to put him in the dungeon for two days until he calmed down.   The thing is that he has decided to accept his mate, but Jaxon refuses to talk to him or acknowledge him. He has had to come to our pack to drop off the treaty and merger documents. They as betas are also responsible for the new packhouse that will be built at our shared border, but Jaxon will not address him. This behavior only riling him up.   Emilio has only been getting worse as they get closer to arriving. I hope they can resolve this s**t soon.   ‘f**k! I’m on my way.’ I say as I turn off the water and jump out of the shower. I quickly pull on my black boxer brief, basketball shorts, t-shirt and head out of the room. I have my trainers and socks in my hand.   After I finish lacing up my shoes, I take off running to the training field. When I arrive I see three of my best warriors trying to hold him back.   “Enough!” I command using my alpha tone. I hate to see my men bowing in submissions, but I have to do it to get him to focus.   “Emilio—what the hell man?” I bark out at him.   His eyes shift to me and then off to my right. He looks happy and torn at the same time. That look can mean only one thing. He releases a low growl.   Then I smell her; honey, cocoa, and lavender---paradise.   Kenzi.
