She found him after dinner. Not immediately after. She had sat through the meal with the treaty information sitting in her chest and the jacket folded over the back of her chair because she had finally taken it off before coming downstairs, not because she had wanted to but because wearing it to dinner felt like a statement she had not yet decided to make. She had eaten carefully and listened to the table conversation and written two brief responses to questions directed at her and watched Damien at the head of the table with the particular attention she always gave him, looking for the thing that would tell her whether he knew she had found the entry he had turned to.
