CHAPTER 4
Rowon and Joel are nice souls. They made me smile and laugh. I was taken care of, but deep down, I am still not happy. Darya and grandma are the most important people to me. I was also thinking of a way to see them without my Dad knowing. So I will use this opportunity to see them. I came down from the bed. Mrs. Kate left a few minutes ago.
"Do you need anything?" Joel asked.
"I want to see my friend," I replied, looking at them. Rowon and Joel exchanged glances, like they just found out about something.
"Really?" Rowon asked with excitement written all over his face. I was confused. "What's wrong?" I asked myself.
"Yes," I nodded.
"We will take you there?" he said.
"Huh?" I was shocked.
"Yeah. Where does he or she live?" he asked.
"Toas, New Mexico," I answered.
"By the way, it's a she," I added.
"Oh, I'm sorry," he laughed.
"Oh, we were heading towards that direction," Joel said.
I was nervous. How will Darya feel if she sees strangers at her doorstep, especially the gender she hates the most?
"Please, you will drop me at the entrance of the street," I said.
"Why?" Rowon asked.
"My friend won't be happy," I replied.
"Oh, ok. No problem," Joel said, glancing at Rowon who smiled.
"It's okay," he said.
ROWON'S POV:
I met Joel in the university; he pointed at a figure ahead of us. It was a girl.
"That's Daisy. I've been stalking her for a while now," he said.
"Oh really?" I hugged him feeling excited.
All of a sudden, she slumped on the floor. Joel and I rushed towards her; she passed out. She's beautiful, tears painted her beautiful face. We had to inform Mrs. Kate and the counselor before taking any step, but I made sure I carried her to the hospital. She looks sick and weak. She is so light and petite.
We took her to Ronin's personal hospital; the nurses attended to her.
I couldn't hold the excitement in me. Finally, I am making progress.
We drove her to Toas, New Mexico. I was so happy with the new development. We dropped her at the entrance of the street. It was more of a rural area than a developed one.
"Thanks," she waved at us before leaving. I waved back. It was the agreement we made.
"At least we now know where she lives. Finding her house won't be a problem," I said, looking at Joel.
"Let's follow her behind," Joel suggested.
I was a bit reluctant.
"We made a promise to her," I said.
"Do you think it will be easy to know the particular building she lives in? All the buildings in this neighborhood look the same. I've been here before."
"Hmm, you are right."
We came down from the car, following her. We were extra careful so she wouldn't notice us. We hid behind bushes and trees when she stopped; she looked around and continued.
DAISY'S POV:
Rowon and Joel dropped me at the entrance of Darya's street. I walked down the street, but I felt someone was following me. "Maybe it's my thoughts," I said quietly and continued walking.
I got to Darya's house; she was making grandma's hair.
"Daisy," she called immediately I opened the door. We both hugged each other. I held back the tears that were trying to find their way out.
"Daisy, are you okay?" Grandma asked. Darya let go of me; she took a look at me, she gasped with her mouth wide open.
"Daisy, what happened?" she asked, turning me over and over. I laughed.
"Come and have your sit," she held my hands and made me sit.
"Have you eaten?" Grandma asked. "You have lost some weight and you look sick," Grandma added.
I looked at the floor.
"I don't have the appetite to eat," I said.
"Don't say that," Darya said. She stood up and went to the kitchen; she came back with an omelet, bread, and homemade juice.
She made me eat. I will definitely miss this meal, even if they are not richly made, but it's made out of love. I couldn't hold the tears anymore; I let them flow freely on my cheeks.
"Daisy, are you okay?" Darya asked, looking so worried; she cleaned my eyes with her big dress.
Darya is known for wearing baggy clothes.
I told them everything; Darya stood up, she was in shock. Grandma looked speechless.
AUTHOR: ESTHER PAUL.
Darya went out of the house without saying a word. She stood, staring at a particular place. I rushed after her. Lo and behold, it was Rowon and Joel. I gasped. "What are they doing here?"
"Who are you?" Darya asked sternly.
I could see the nervousness on their faces.
"I asked a question. What are you doing here? Oh, thieves, right? I will call the cops now," her voice became more aggressive.
"No, it hasn't gotten to that. I am Rowon Galvin, and this is Joel," Rowon replied. I was confused about what to do.
"Oh, I see," Darya crossed her arms on her chest, looking at me.
"It's not what you think," Rowon said, trying to defend me.
"She didn't bring us here," he added.
"Darya, please stop. I'm surprised as you are," I said nervously.
"Get out now!" she shouted. Rowon and Joel looked surprised. They took one step back.
"Please, can you listen to us?" Rowon said.
"Listen? Oh, you were sent, huh?" Darya smiled maniacally.
"No, we weren't sent. Please just listen to us."
"And why should I listen to you, you animal?" she barked. I grabbed Darya by the hand.
"Stop!" She yanked my hand off her.
She rushed towards Rowon and Joel, launching an attack towards them. Darya was so swift and fast, you couldn't believe. She held Rowon by the throat.
"Darya, please stop," Grandma and I rushed towards her. Joel tried to fight back, but Rowon wasn't. It surprised me. We were able to free Rowon from Darya's grips.
"Do you know who they are?" I yelled at her.
"I don't care to know. They came to my home, trying to invade," she spat back.
"It's okay, Daisy," Rowon said.
"Oh, they know your name. I think it's a teamwork," she looked at me sternly.
"Darya, please stop," I said with watery eyes.
"Darya, put yourself together," Grandma hugged her tightly, gesturing for the young men to leave, of which they did.
"I'm sorry," Rowon bowed slightly before leaving with Joel.
Darya stormed into the house.
"How could you, Daisy?" she said angrily.
"What did I do?" I asked, following her behind.
"What evidence do you have that I was part of it?" I asked.
"How did they get to know here?" she asked, panting.
"That's a naive question. They must have followed you, me, or grandma," I said.
"The question is as naive as you who will bring a stranger to my home," she said harshly. I was taken aback.
"Darya, that's too harsh. By the way, Daisy is right," Grandma said.
"Those young men look harmless. Do you know if they have something important to say to you? I mean, if they know something," Grandma added.
"It's not possible, and I don't need any assistance from any man," she sat down, breathing heavily.
"I guess I have overstayed my welcome." I took my bag and was about going out when grandma stopped me.
"You girls can't fight. Now that you are leaving," she held me.
Grandma made sure Darya and I settled our disagreement quickly. Darya apologized too.
I told them all that happened.
"At least let's give them a listening ear. We don't know who will be of help to seek for those who killed your parents," Grandma said.
"You can't revenge your parents' death like this," she added. I nodded in agreement to what Grandma just said. Darya stared at the floor. She's now calm.
"Happy birthday in advance," I hugged her; she smiled.
"Thanks. So, Daisy, you are leaving me," she withdrew from the hug.
"It isn't intentional," I said softly.
"Your parents are something else."
"I'm really tired, but I know I can't continue like this,"
AUTHOR'S POV
Ronin felt uncomfortable; he was feeling restless. He dialed Rowon's mobile number, but he wasn't picking up. "What's going on?" he said calmly. It wasn't written all over him that he was worried, but deep down he was very worried. Ronin is a person who has come to learn how to control his emotions since he took the responsibility of his parents when he was 19 years old. Which made him act and think maturely. Ronin stood up gently from his king-sized bed and headed to Sam's room. He knocked on the door.
"Yes, come in," Sam said while focusing on his computer.
"Please call Rowon," Ronin said.
"Hope all is well?" Sam asked.
"I don't know" Ronin replied Sam "Ok" i
