Chapter 2

~Sabrina~ "Are you being serious?" Fiona whispered back at me, and I nodded. I just broke the news that I was forced to go to Wild Wolf Academy and she was already flipping. She was staring at me with eyes wide open, trying to get over the news. "Pinch me." She said and I pinched her hard till she yelped in pain. "Ouch!! That hurts." I shrugged with a smile on my face. "You asked for it." "But this is madness, Sabrina." "There's nothing I can do. This is my fate." I said in a sad voice. There's something I can do, but I'm not going to be disclosing that to anybody and not even my closest friend, Fiona. That's not because I don't trust her, but I just have to be careful and keep a clean track. Fiona may go blabber to the wrong person who she thinks has my best interest at heart and that may be the end of my escape plan. "But can't we do something?" She asked with worry. I stared hard at her with a nonchalant look. "What do you think there's to be done? The only way out is going to the academy and surviving that hell hole." She sighed in frustration. "I hope it's not as bad as they all say." I shrugged. "I'm hoping the same too." To hell with taking chances, I'm fleeing baby girl and I wish I could tell you that, but I can't. The rest of our friends came to join us at the department where we all worked in the pack house. We were colleagues but our bond grew beyond that to a close knit friendship. We helped out in the finance and service department most times after school. Except that I wasn't going to school anymore and once I'm done with the chores at home, I come down here. Mochi made me stop going to school, insisting I was useless and sending me to school was just a waste of money. Fiona graduated from high school six months ago so she was now here full time while she applied to universities. "Hi, Bella, Hello Maryam! Mark, Don..." I grinned at each of them despite my downcast mood as we exchanged fist bumps and hugs. Maryam jumped on me and I squealed. "We've missed you. I was also afraid for you. Glad to see you're back." "Me too." I said and rubbed her back till she got off me. Mark came closer and kissed me on my cheeks while I blushed. He was the only one amongst my friends who always gave off flirting vibes. It's crazy that I don't know if he's flirting most of the time, or not. "Umm... I can definitely read that look. There's something else. Are you okay, Sabrina? Your step mother?" Mark said as he observed my mood shift. "There's bad news, guys." Fiona announced and got everyone's attention on her and they drew closer with worry. "What's wrong?" "What happened?" "Are you okay, Sabrina?" Fiona glanced at me and I nodded for her to go ahead. "Her step mother is sending her to the Wild Wolf Academy." She broke the news. "What!" "That's impossible." "Sabrina, how true is that?" "She's got no powers like a special wolf so what's she going to be doing there?" "One at a time guys." Fiona tried to calm everyone down, then she started answering the questions while I just watched. This right here is why I kept my decision to flee to myself. I love Fiona so much but she doesn't have a mouth filter and for the rest of my friends, I can trust them but what then happens if they blabber to the wrong person? "This is sad. We should do a farewell party for her." I shook my head in disagreement with Bella's idea. "Come on. We can do that tonight or next before you leave. We are going to miss you and we all know how life is hard over there. A good sendoff would have been nice." Don chirped it. "I appreciate the thoughtfulness guys, but I'm not just feeling it, okay? I'll prefer to leave quietly to face whatever is out there waiting for me." I said. "But are you guys really sure Wild Wolf Academy is as crazy as they make it sound?" Maryam asked. "Yes. It's a solid yes." Bella said. "My cousin went there and after the first year, he begged that he didn't want to go back." "How... How bad was it? What was his experience like?" My lips quivered as I asked the question. "He went as a feral wolf who was close to going rogue. He was drilled to exhaustion, bullied by stronger wolves with super powers and when he begged to never return, his parents gave him an option. Be on good behaviour and you won't, and just like that, it's been two years and my cousin brother hasn't flipped in anger ever." Everyone was quiet when she finished. "I'm so sorry, Sabrina." Fiona said and came to me for a hug. *** Tomorrow is the day my life changes, but I refuse to let that happen, so I choose to change things on my course. I had booked a night ticket bus to Apex wolf pack which was miles away from this wretched place I call home, and far away from Wild wolf Academy as well which was in Rogue Titans pack. I packed up some books and managed to squeeze it into the small backpack I had chosen to run away with. A big luggage will only serve as a disadvantage. I have to get to the bus station by 8:00 pm as the bus will be leaving by 8:30 pm. The chores Mochi had made me do was the cause of my delay. Sneaking off won't be much of a problem, because lucky for me, Mochi was throwing one of her loud, and uncalled -for parties. By this time, she will be getting drunk and Zarius was the one I need to watch out for along with guards, friends or anyone that I may come in contact with while escaping. I tiptoed around the house till I got to the main entrance door and opened it. The party was at the back of the house, in our garden but some wolves were around in front too because the music was loud and some chairs were set here too. A male wolf in blonde hair was staring at me with a thirsty look while sucking on the nape of a she-wolf he was making out with. Ewww... Some male wolves can be so detestable. Making out with someone and desiring another. I glanced around to be sure the coast was clear. Shit. I looked away the moment I sighted Sam, one of the pack's enforcers. He didn't really notice me because he was busy flirting with a she-wolf. I hastened my steps as I took the path that led to the main road. It's a good thing everyone was distracted and no one was looking. I hailed a cab that would take me to the bus stop. I sighed from both relief and joy the moment the driver zoomed off.. it will all be over soon. I really don't know how life will be out there, but if I can survive this deathtrap pack, I can survive anywhere else. I looked up the moment the driver cleared his throat. He was quite elderly. A mix of grey hair was sprouting on his jet black hair. Our eyes locked through his rearview mirror and I looked away immediately before shifting uncomfortably on my seat. Does he know me? That's impossible since I haven't seen him before. "Where are you off to, pretty lady?" "To the mall, and I'm not open for petty talks." I quickly dismissed any further questions he might have and put on my headset. My eyes caught him talking on a phone from the corner of my eyes and I quickly looked up again to see his eyes were on me while he made the call. My heart began pounding fast and I wondered if this wasn't a setup. Maybe he does know me and was putting a call across. I reduced the volume of my music to listen to what was being said, but I was late. "Yes... It's a pleasure." He said and ended the call. The car immediately reversed and he drove at an increased speed. "Noo!! Where are you taking me to!?" I screamed and began hitting on his neck. "I can't go back to the pack house!!!!" "Stop screaming in my car. You seem not to remember me. I was once an enforcer at the pack house, but resigned some months ago. The moment I saw you, I knew something was wrong because you were giving fleeing vibes." I stared at him intently this time around. Wait, I do recognise him as someone I used to see around the pack house. Shit, s**t, s**t!!! "Please, I can't go back." I pleaded as tears rolled down my eyes, but this enforcer didn't even look fazed. Sure enough, his heart may be as black as Mochi and Zarius.
